Default Lightweight stock-size pulleys for the SVT... discussion and interest

I am gauging and building interest in the SVT community in getting a complete set of lightweight billet aluminum pulleys made in stock sizes. The ballpark price is far less than I imagined when I mentioned this to CFM, read more details here: http://forums.focaljet.com/cfm/51173...t-pulleys.html

We would basically need 25 orders to get this ball rolling. FIRST THOUGH, I would like to know if you guys would be interested in only the three main pulleys (crank, water pump and alternator), OR if you would like the tensioner and idler pulleys included in this set. Personally, I would want all 5, but please tell me what you would be interested in and we can keep track.

Please note, I am organizing this product build for stock-sized pulleys on the SVT only, no under- or over-drive. This would require no belt changes and no guesswork.

Let's hear your opinions!

If you could get ALL the pullies with a better bearing type tentioner instead of sleeve type it would be awesome! I would also buy them for sure.

I thought about this a while back. I went as far as going to Unorthodox Racing to get a quote.

I'd be interested, but I need a price range and estimated power gains

I think a solid Al crank pulley is a bad idea. The OE harmonic dampener does a lot of valuable cranktrain protection work all over the RPM range.

A great idea for the alt, w/p, p/s. The idler isn't likely to get much lighter than the OE.

You must have the Al pullies hard anodized. If not, the pulley surfaces will quickly get rough and start eating belts.

I'm going out on a limb here but im pretty sure your not going to save much weight on anything but the crank pully. - Also it wouldn't increase HORSEPOWER so to say. But it would increase throttle responce. *I think harmonics are a thing of the past if you ask me. But thats my opinion and most likely others will share a different opinion i'm sure.

might this already be doable with what CFM is already producing?

You could buy the 5.7" overdrive pulley, and purchase the waterpump pulley from the UDP kit, and then an AEM alternator pulley. They should all be hard anodized aluminum.

Thoughts?

Hard anodized aluminum versus cast iron? Of course there will be weight savings. I presume that the pulleys are all cast iron.

If I remember correctly there are just ounces of difference in the pullies for the water pump from stock to focus central's- But I really do want a set. In that black color they make everything. It's so awesome.

I'd be interested in this too........about to pick up an SVT for a new project car.

Has anyone ever contacted Fluidamper or a company like that specifically for the crank pullies on our cars? That way you can have a "lightened harmonic balancer" instead of just a crank pulley that might screw with things. This might be the perfect time for someone to do that, wink wink.

I agree with you on this.

I would not be interested in this, but its always good to see more parts available.
I just think that that there are other things you could spend the money on that would be more effective.

If we have a custom dampener made, it will be through ATI. They're not cheap.

no custom dampers... we'll be just fine. there will have to be a $hitton of vibrations to damage our cranks. How many failed ones have we seen over the past 6 years?

I do like the bearing idea though.

Really, have we seen anyone's motor pop due to an UDP or other Non harmonic dampened pulley? Or any proof that a non dampened pulley has caused a zetec damage? I've been running my UDP for around 40-50k miles and it seems just fine, and I don't drive it nicely.

I'd buy a full set... Dependent on price of course but, count me towards your 25 needed orders.
