Question JRSC/BBK install q - no help from search

Hey guys,

So, I've been working on getting the JRSC/BBK installed in my SVTF. Lots of slow going, but I'm almost there. I thought that I'd finish up last night, but then I ran into a huge problem getting the oilfilter to go back on. It looks like the bottom of the alternator is hitting the last 1/2 inch of the oil filter. I tried to remedy this by grinding the alternator part down, but it still won't go.

The only modification to the install I made was not rotating the oil filter (27mm socket not available). I still got the alternator/mount to clear the oil hoses by a bit so I figured I was ok. And it looks like the angle of the oil filter connector won't change if I just rotate it around so I might still have the hitting problem.

Any ideas? Are there short/stubby oil filters? I'm fairly confident that I installed the alternator bracket correctly (there aren't really any holes back there to mount it to incorrectly).

I'm so close to boost I can taste it - damned oil filter. Thanks in advance!

-Neil

Go buy yourself a 27mm socket and turn the oil filter, its the only way. I wouldnt grind to much on that bracket thogh

it's been awhile - but i do remember that bracket being a pain after the JRSC install. are you sure you moved it into the right position when you were putting everything back?

i remember with both the install AND uninstall, we probably spent the most time screwing around with the alternator positioning.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will buy the socket and rotate the filter - hopefully that solves it.

I'm almost 100% positive the alternator bracket is in the right place b/c o/w the bolts don't fit. Also, as a check the alternator power cable just barely fit to the alt in the stock mounting position and it fit the same onto the newly mounted alternator.

Thanks again for the help - I'll let you know how I get it solved. Take care!
