Bad sunroof gear - Focaljet

O.K., so I have a gear problem on the sunroof of my 04 SVT. Dealer says $1500 to replace, which means they will remove & replace the entire sunroof assembly (glass, rails, EVERYTHING). I know I can get a separate motor+gear assembly for a good price ($160 from our friends on this forum), so...

1. How tough is the install? Any details or help would be appreciated.

2. I don't have a shop manual. For those of you with them, is this procedure detailed in the basic Ford manual? If yes, that would justify the purchase of a manual for me.
