Default Looking for a new tune...

My car has a tune by the guy listed in my sig... and since i got it, the car has always had a surging issue. I think my car is due for a little TLC and want to get a new tune for it... my question is the following... can i simply buy the tune and upload it to my existing XCAL? i haven't done any mods to my car in the past 3-4 years so its almost like starting new.

Yes you can do that if you have the proper programming cable for the xcal. The xcal1 requires a special programming cable that doesn't come with the unit. The xcal2 and xcal3 use a standard usb cable.

yup... i do have the cable. It actually did come with it, its a serial cable. So now to find a tuner... Randy @ FocusSport? Now another question, would a tuner look at my existing tune and see where to better it? Or would it be a new one all together.

It is not a standard serial cable; similar but not standard.

It would be a new tune file all together.

I dont think Randy will tune on a Xcal1 anymore. Outdated platform. I have heard the xcal2 and 3 are faster than the xcal1.

Im in the same boat as you. Local guy tuned my car. Its an OK tune, but could be better.
