I know this, but the fact that someone put different wheels on a car, doesn't mean a whole lot. I know a few people that love the car, but HATE the euro wheels, so whatever, call it wishfull thinking.

Glad that this situation sort of worked out for you Goat...
I used to work for a company that actually dealt with selling off lease cars to dealers. None of us liked Carmax... they are snakes and a pain to deal with. I think that our company stopped doing business with them, to some extent.
Anyhow, just be happy you have a cool car and walk away. You will not win a fight with a company as big as Carmax unless you have real deep pockets to fight. I think it was dishonest for them to offer you to keep the car and take money and sign a waiver and all that crap, but it is over and done with.
I recommend you move on and be the envy of your fellow Jetters!
Have fun!

I'm glad it worked out the way it did. I'm happy with the car. It needs a few odds and ends, but nothing major. Mods will take a while for me to get becuase I had to dip into mod money to get the car, but it'll be worth it.

Update. **** this place. I have nothing good to say about them. Both hids had to be replaced because they couldn't be adjusted and I couldn't see ****. One was under Ford warranty, the other under Carmax's. Fords was done in no time and it was a huge improvement. I got it back from Carmax, and I could see worse than before they "fixed" them. I told them this and that they need to be adjusted and they tell me I'm wrong. I said " The light stops like 10ft my from car....that's not right." "I'm sure that's exaggerated sir, they were adjusted to spec by the service manager." I told them I didn't give a **** what they thought they did, it's wrong. They said they would look at it. I swear if they tell me I am wrong again, I'm gonna burn that mother****er down.

Also, things they've had to replace so far. Left rear quarter window, had to fix the front lip because it wouldn't stay on, replaced the fuel door, both headlights, had to fix passenger door panel clips because it was banging around like a jewish hooker, i'm sure I've forgotten some stuff. The only person I've dealt with there that I liked was my service writer. Go figure.

check the contract you signed. if it has a "no cooling down period" stated on it the your stuck. if youhave this "cooling down " thing bring the car back, get your $$$$ and go get something else. i know that prob breaks your heart to hear but f-them. you dont run a car dealership like that

Just to let you know, Carmax is suppose to send the car to the dealer if it has the factory warranty remaining. If Carmax does work to it, then it goes to a dealer and the dealer sees that they (Carmax) have done work on it, it could void any warranty you have left. And since you have an '03, you may have the 5 year/100k warranty period. Thought you may like to hear that from someone that works for Carmax.

What a nightmare. I'm so sorry to hear this man.

What about the situation with the first car? Isn't selling a wrecked car without the buyer's knowledge illegal? Don't you have a legal case against them for that?

What happened when you reported them to the BBB?

You might just have to get them to take the SVT back the same way. Wow, horrible. Where is this dealership, I've got half a mind to go lay into them myself!

Good luck and I hope everything works out in the end.

It's not been THAT bad, they've fixed everything, even though it did take them a couple tries on a few things, but they always gave me a loaner Taurus which saw more N drops and redlines than it cared to. It's just been frustrating more than anything. The car itself is great. I was just trying to get everything perfect on the car and screw them out of as much money as possible. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

You made out pretty good considering all they promise is to buy your car back if there's a problem. Which they did offer you.

Everything else you tried to negotiate is beyond what they promise.

I'd have taken my money back and gone elsewhere, but thats just me.

If I read right,

You bought a car from Carmax and discovered something wrong.

Carmax checked and saw it had been wrecked.

Carmax then kept their end of the deal and offered to buy it back just like they promise and advertise.

You wanted more than that.

You both negotiated an "acceptable" settlement. (which included a loaner car during the process)

Sounds fair to me.

Enjoy the SVT (esp. the dsi clip and clutch)

So I use to work there as a salesmane goat. All I can say is your situation isn't the first time that has happened. I have seen in happen at least ~10 times and I worked there for maybe a month. I remember that they sold a 23k prius to someone that had been wrecked and had transsmision problems, the car could never hit 50 mph. That guy just got his money back because of the giant hassle it was to deal with carmax.I can tell you that carmax is all about volume of cars sold, we use to sell something like 20-30 cars a weekend. They didn't really care as long as they hit there quota of cars. Carmax the company didn't really care about alot things such as the 1 hundred and some point inspection all cars go through was BS. Some techs would only check the fenders and hood gaps to see if the car was repainted or check under the car to see if had been on a frame machine. So I would be real careful with dealing with carmax in general.

The problem was the only reason I got out of my BMW (clean e30) and into the pzev was because it was exactly what I wanted, it was ****ed up. If they just flat out took the car back, I would be hoofing it, and i didn't have the option to go someplace else because of my ****ty credit. So, I made them make it work, and they done another 2k in warranty work.

I'd take a 2.3 over a regular SVT but definately not a Euro, they are awesome. Good choice, I hope everything works out good for ya.
