Default Ford Futura Sprint GT/A wagon?

I'm confused to all ends...just when i thought i had the Ford lineup and upcoming vehicles all set, i open up my new CarAndDriver and see this thing.

It seems, from what i gather from BlueOvalForums, that its all chopped. An entire article of a fraud car, even comparisons to Mazda and Bentley's. Not too mention it looks like a SHO motor, not the Miller.

Conclusion.... slow times at C&D, got bored?

if anyone can shed truth on this or why...help me out.

i can only hope and pray that that thing is far from official. but then again, its so bad and unmarketable, ford will probably run with it, at least in north america.

I noticed the SHO motor when I read the article also...I could have sworn it was some kind of joke.

Did anyone else happen to notice that it has four doors in the first picture and only two in the next? I also like the suicide doors. Nice.

This would be cool if that V6 were longitudinal.

Or if I believed it existed.

no it was definitely a joke because the pictures at different angles have points that "dissapear" indicating some skillful (but not a amazing) photoshopping

just doesn't make sense, maybe if it was the April issue for a nice "April Fool's" but its the June issue...

but for them to compare it to a Scion, Mazda, and then the Bentley Flying Spur....reaks joke

BTW high res images here :
http://www.mikekukielka.com/gallery/v/Ford+Futura/

the BON forum on this:
http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums...opic=3060&st=0

and it is ridiculous that his is published without any disclaimer.. I mean it is obviously fake.. some references and details are just hilarious, but it still needed a diclaimer.. maybe Ford is scouting for ideas/feedback on Fusion Wagon ?

that was my first thought, that it was actually Ford who put them up to it covertly...

im with u on that. Because i could definitely see a performance oriented wagon, one above the focus, and aimed at the consumers who look at the Mazda

especially since the comparo was with a Scion (to kick it out of the water)...the flying spur (to show the lux side thought) and the Mazda (to spark the demographic of that segment)

Maybe Ford North America has simply resorted to the ostrich method of selling/marketing vehicles? (head stuck in the ground for anyone confused by my invented method ) That thing's hideous regardless, give me more Fiesta dammit

It's only a matter of time before Ford pulls a Chrysler and makes everything look the same

haha, i just glanced over the article....

Reading the specs:

Quote:
Vehicle Type:front engine,4-wheel-drive,3-passengers, 4-door wagon

Price and option breakdown: GT/A package (includes performance exhaust, high-flow air intake,Tornado air management system, fuel magnet)

Dimensions:Ground clearance:2.6in (slammed)
Curb weight per Horsepower: not bad at all

Chassis/Body:
Type: unit construction with 4 rubber-isolated dwarf-like subframes made by Home Depot
Body Material: welded steel stampings and fiberglass reinforced papier-mache
that was just some of the funnies....

I'd buy something like that with an SHO motor. Alot of you have probably forgotten how powerful those NA motors were for such small displacement. In a Fusion type vehicle they would rock. Plus the short aftermarket for them made these little guys push upwards of 350whp NA. I could live with that....

"Hurst linkage identical to that in the SRT-10..." "(ideal for) wet nurses..."

lol there are like at least 3 things in every paragraph that show it's obviously a joke.

what i love best about it is that it is such a planned out article which at no point do they tell you outright that it is fake. i love it lol

it's funny cuz only some people will get it. i bet tons of people read it and thought it was real

Monroe triple-adjustable shocks with in-cabin adjustability.

(possible, perhaps... but not with one knob)

it was a joke, tho it did have an underbelly of marketing insight....they'll get a flood of responses to that joke some negative, others oblvious, and most genuinly describing what aspects are good or bad

really think ford had a part in it

Remember this is also the issue that has a huge article about "The Cars that could save Ford NOW!".

Could be a bit of a joke to go in with that article....
