Default Local business owner fires back at me over unhappy service I received.

Here are the links with the info:

http://www.svtownersassociation.com/...t=distinctions

And a post I made about it on here:

http://forums.focaljet.com/exterior-...t=distinctions

And here's the PM he sent me over on the SVTOA boards:

Here is what I know, I did the best I could, the tint looked great, and I was happy to try to make you happy. Your friends said that I went far and away, above and beyond what I should have done.

If you are going to bash me on public forums please indicate what is screwed up about your tint and let the public decide if you are right in your statments.

Sincerely,
J.P.
Auto Distinctions

P.S. I noticed in your pictures that it is still tinted by me, not 100% sure. Why haven't you had it redone somewhere else if I did such a bad job?
And my response to him:

Quote:
Well, if you want to bring up an unhappy business transaction from TWO YEARS ago, then fine.

If you are reffering to this thread: http://www.svtownersassociation.com/...t=distinctions you will notice that I directed my comment towards Inteller, who was the one that informed me about your business. I had already talked to him about what was wrong with the tint hence the reason I did not go into the specifics, and I wasn't about to go into details with him again unless someone asked for specifics, and no one did.

I wasn't wanting the tint to look perfectly flawless like privacy glass, I was wanting my tint to look at least as good as the other tint jobs you have done on other cars. I know many people who have had their tint done by you, and even checked their cars out in person, and almost all of them didn't have any problems with the tint.

One of my friends, Chris Jenen, had her Focus tinted at your shop last year. Tint looks good except for a clearly visible inch tall "3M" logo in the middle of the passenger side rear glass. She never brought this back to you because she didn't want to bother with it, even though she was not 100% happy with it. Just because I am the only one to bring back my car 3 times doesn't mean I am the only one that had a problem, it just means that I was being persistant with the issue until it was corrected. Fixing a problem with the tint is not "going above and beyond" when the tint is not up to standard quality levels. If it takes 10 times to get it right, that is doing the job correctly not "going above and beyond".

I still have bubbles in my tint on each window. Not just one or two, but MANY in my tint, especially in the rear quarter glass on each side. There is also a razor cut in the tint on the rear. I never brought this back to you because I was tired of messing with it. I just gave up, wrote this off as a bad experience, and decided to live with the tint until I found the best shop to do the tint again. I have yet to find the shop. I figure that driving around with your logo stuck under the tint would be adequate advertising since people can look at the problems with my tint in person.

And I am curious who you are stating as my "friends" who said you went "above and beyond what you should have done". If you are going to imply someone said something, you should mention who it was so I can determine if it was actually a "friend" of mine.
Personally, I think it's pretty crappy that he calls me out about a comment I made a year ago about a tint job I had done 2 years ago. What do you think?

Well, I tried to send him that message, but he has chosen not to receive any PMs on the board, even though he decided to send me one. Looks like he didn't want to hear my reply.

That sucks dude I'm not really sure how you could go about remedying the problem except for chalking it up to experience

Call me a bitch, but if I PAY a PROFESSIONAL to tint my glass, you're damned right I'd want it flawless.

Yea, who cares. I wouldn't drag it out. Take your car somewhere else nextime. Sucks dude.

How bad was it? My tint has like 2 tiny tiny air lines, less than 1mm thick and probably 1cm long, and like 4 "little tiny spots" like a grain of salt air bubbles. Unless you study it for a while, it looks perfect.

Funny thing was that I had let it go. I haven't said a word about the situation in almost a year and he decides to bring it up. But if this guy is going to approach me about this almost a year after the last time I said something, I am going to defend myself. I NEVER drove around town with a sign telling people not to go there, I just simply told people about my experience when they asked. Upset customers do that.

The only thing I wanted was it to look as good as most of the other jobs that he had done. Right now I have a couple of very noticable bubbles in the front door windows and the rear quarter glass has those "little tiny spots" like you mention, but ALL OVER the glass. Look up close and you can see them everywhere. There is also a 3 inch long slit in the rear glass where you can tell it was hit with a razor blade. Plus the first time he did my rear glass he did it in one sheet, then when he redid it to get rid of all of the dust bubbles, he did it in 2 sheets, which of course you can see the tint line. Each time I took it back he never got that part right.

What pissed me off the most is that I paid $230 to have this guy tint my windows because he was supposed to be the best guy in town. Almost every other place charges $150 or less for the same job. So I paid more than everywhere else and got a lesser quality job than I probably would have received elsewhere too. That's why I took it back again and again for him to fix it.

My guess is he got bored and punched his company's name up in Google or something.

The bad thing about the Internet is that any type of comment can never really be erased because it can either be archived or shuffled away somewhere on a board, disk or computer. So, even though it's been a year or three that's passed, it's still "fresh" in this guy's eyes and you're now seeing the aftermath.

I'd just personally let it go. You showed him several times that you were wiling to let him fix his mistakes (even though he probably thought you were too picky or something). There's no use in rehasing a negative experience. If he's not willing to hear your side of the story and see if he can resolve your concerns/issues, then you already can get a feel of what kind of a business person you're dealing with.

Move up here and join our chapter. Our tint guy is one of the original members and does an EXCELLENT job on all our cars

Meh.... Park your car in front of his business of the street and put a sign on it that says, "Another Lemon from Auto Distinctions"

I'll betcha he'd be happy to give you a refund. Even more so if you bring a bag lunch and look like you're going to make it an all day affair.

SOunds like he tinted a dirty window, even I know better than that and I suck ass at tinting. Tinting a car almost never works 100% flawlessly though, between ripples, dust, and gasses that build up you are bound to have some imperfection, but that's why tint usually has a warranty with it when you get it done at a shop. The 3M logo in the middle of a window would just piss me right off.

Well, his shop is not on a major street , so not much traffic goes in front of it.

Besides, I wrote this guy off 2 years ago. I'm not wanting my money back now. I just want him to realise he is not the god of window tinting that he thinks he is since he fired back at me so long after the original job....

Holy ****! For $235 I'd expect absolute perfection....particularly since I've had fantastic tint jobs done for less than half that amount down here in Tampa. I'd say you are absolutely justified in your comments. I wonder what took him so long to fire back at you.

I'm guessing someone recently had some work done, saw my comments online, and told him about it. Or maybe he was bored and did a search for his business name online and came upon my comments that way. Who knows.

I got my tint done at Ziebart for about $150 and it came out flawless. For the price you paid, I would expect perfection, and if it wasn't perfect, I'd bring that car back again and again until it was right.
