Could it be that this is the only existing working prototype of the new Dodge Challenger?
I popped in to a local cruise night to hang with some friends, did a double take, then quickly walked back to the Focus to grab my lil' point and shoot. The men handling this carbon fiber-bodied one-off concept were swamped; the car had a gazillion people drooling. All I know is that the motor's a Hemi, the trans is a Viper six speed and the rear suspension is independent. Apparently, this Challenger concept is making the rounds nation-wide to some well-known local cruise nights. This was at Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake, California; home to a Friday night cruise every week since 1962. Enjoy the pics; I shot from the hip with my Pana FZ-5 and a dying battery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you want to see this machine make it to production, go to Dodge.com and tell 'em what you think - even about every little detail - 'cause they want to know - or so I was told.

Cool. Thanks for the "Exclusive"
![]() I'm always amazed when they let some take a multi-million dollar concept out in the "real world". Props to them.

wow that actually looks pretty good compared to other recent remakes of older muscle cars. it has a real old school look to it still. and it's simple and clean as well.

Squier... YOU SUCK!
I would have LOVED to see that car in person. If that comes to production and looks anything like that, I will take a second on my house to buy one. |

It showed up this morning at the Crystal Cove car show in Newport Beach as well (along with 6 Ford GTs
). Check out these photos by Drew Phillips:http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/cc51306 >8^) ER |

That puts the Mustang to shame. Give it to Dodge to have the balls to not water down their concept cars when they go to production.

^^^HMMMM.. this is still the concept...
We should nto forget that... there is not telling as of now how the result will look... but I am sure the fancy headlights and tailights will be lost.. Finally Mustang is 2005 MY ... it will be getting a replacement.. it is like saying.. way to go Camry.. show Accord how to build a car... wel D'Oh it is a newcomer it had the chance to learn from older models... EDIT: although it apperas the Challenger did get a green light for 2008.5 release: http://www.newagemusclecars.com/inde...p2_articleid=6 and Ford is supposedly working on the GT500KR for 2008.5 as well... http://www.stangsunleashed.com/index...2_articleid=95 Igor

Yep I saw this car out at Crystal Cove over here in Newport Coast. It was VERY, VERY cool. He, he, I even got a short ride in it!
Hopefully it stays within concept, plus it sounded WAY bad. Good luck-bix

Dodge did teh same with the PT when it first came out - the full-on panel concept made by Metalcrafters would roll into Donut Derelicts for a spell (this was before teh Crystal Cove thing started)

I'd rock that in a heartbeat, but once again it's too early to tell what will be changed for the production version. I guess we can only hope it stays that freakin' awesome though

I have been looking forward to seeing this car in person ever since I began reading about it in the car magazines.
Thanks for the pics...it's going to be a good year when this, the new camaro, and some other modern muscle starts showing up on showroom floors! |
