They totally ate it... there's no recovering from that kind of tilt. The bike's already on its side.
Off topic: why is everyone on urbandictionary down on yamahas?

When all else fails and the speculation is driving you nuts - go to the source:

I'd even speculate that depending on how much weight was in that backpack that it shifting around on her back could have been the pendulum that helped to take them down. Just a guess though...As Todd said, the road where this occurred is quite close to me. I can tell exactly which corner they went down on in fact, and in a way they were lucky (if you can call it that) as it's one of the slowest corners on that section of Mulholland. Of course the slow speed may have also contributed to the mistake that brought them down. I marked the spot of the crash with an Ж in the photo below - as you can see it's a long hairpin turn. What you can't see from the overhead is that it's got quite an elevation change as you come through it, but you can see that in the photo. ![]() Just after this turn where the road straightens out is the overlook where everyone congregates at the top of the climb. There's probably 1000-1500ft of total elevation change from the starting point at the world famous "Rock Store" Todd mentioned. If you go by there during the daytime on a weekend there's never less than 50 bikes there and sometimes a few hundred. Leno and other celebrities who have a love for bikes are also frequent visitors. >8^) ER |

i have a feeling, that the backpack might hav also saved them a bit.
if they kept falling like that, chances are she ended up on her back and the backpack took the majority of the impact and maybe pending slide. regardless...i always told myself that if i ever, and i never will, buy a bike, that i'd be buying full gear and wear it no matter what the weather was like. i like my skin on my body...not on teh ground

![]() I actually have this in my garage: ![]() It's my roommates and I could ride it if I took the MSF course and got my license, but then I'd be hooked and probably have to sell my four wheeled toy to support the habit and I'm still having too much fun with that right now. >8^) ER |

I've wanted a CBR 600F4i for a while, but I've been told by the "boss"
"I trust you, just not everyone else on the road" then I really can't argure with that one. I might become an idot on a bike also, just thinking about the PW to WT ratio, revving past 10K, hmmm. Probally to dangerous for me to have one then sigh. I would never be an knucklehead and skimp on the protective gear though, but i don't think i can wear leather phants, or those Power Ranger outfits... They really dont' fit my masculinity very well... |

Good find on the acutal corner Erik.... Glad to know they were OK. Like I said, no ambulance was sent, so if they did get to the Hosp, someone drove em, and thats always a good thing.

actually, backpacks are brutal in a fall, because the can actually prevent you from rolling into a proper protective position.. i guess it might help if you fell straight on your back, but that rarily happens.
good to know they were alright, but the curious side says i want to see the carnage.

I just realized two other things...
She's wearing gloves. Very interesting. Couldn't even wear shoes, but she's wearing gloves. ![]() Also, one of the shots, he's crossing the centerline nicely too.

The corner is not blind from just before the midpoint where they are starting to fall, however practicing lane discipline on those roads is of the utmost importance for protecting yourself and everyone else out there. The elevation change in that turn would also hamper your ability to see something coming down the long straightaway they were heading towards, which itself is a steep descent.
I almost never even touch the double-yellow on those roads - maybe just to straighten out a kink or two where I have completely clear, straight-line visibility, but that's it. I followed a MINI Cooper convertible down one of the twistier sections last Saturday night and he was all over both lanes trying to shake me. I finally decided that if he was going to take someone out driving like that, I didn't want to be around when it happened and so I slowed down and then turned a different way at the next junction. It really doesn't matter how well you know the road as you will never know what's around that next corner every single time - be it a cyclist, a police officer, or another car/bike approaching or moving slowly - you have to expect the unexpected and 8-10/10ths on those roads is mind-bogglingly stupid in my opinion. >8^) ER |
