omg if you add in EVERYTHING i spend on my car it would be insain. Repairs + maintnance + gas + insurance + tolls I am at probabally $40,000 since i bought the thing in 2002, oh and dont forget the cost of the CAR to begin with @ $17,000. I never really do a mod to just do a mod, i usually wait till something breaks, and then replace it with a better part.

Funny we were just talking about this today at work.
Including the cost of the car I am in for around $30,000 - 35,000. This includes race wheels and tires, ect.

I'm around $3200 so far (mods only, no repairs/maintence/tires), but my plans only include ~$1200 more (cams, gears, header/flex), so I'm not feeling too bad about it. I ought to have it pretty well finished up by summer.
Not bad, considering that pretty much everything that I've bought has been new.Honestly, its going to be a work in progress for a while, but for the moment, I'm taking it slow, since I have other priorities that come before modding. I intend to keep it for a while, but as long as it remains my primary transportation, I'm going to stick with the mods that I have on it or have planned for this spring. EDIT: I was thinking about it a little more and realized that I have about the same amount of money "invested" in guitar stuff, so that makes me feel better.

Engine:
A'PEXi WS Exhaust - $267 (Garage Sale Price...YES!!!) FocusSport Under Drive Pulley - Free Installation of UDP - $40 Injen Intake - Free (My neighbor is Paul Ho, Head of R & D for Injen) A'PEXi Super Grounding Stabilizer Kit - $120 Ford Racing SVT Header Kit - $370 (for sale soon as soon as I remove it) Random Tech Hi-Flow Cat - $300 (for sale soon as soon as I remove it) Flex Pipe - $120 (for sale soon as soon as I remove it) New Power Steering Hardline (due to negligence of putting the heat shield on and letting it get melted away by the header) - $500 w/ labor (a gruesome, expensive lesson) FocusSport Sparkplug Wires - $40 Injen Dress-Up Kit - Free Ford Zetec Aluminum Valve Cover - $40 Brakes Brembo Slots - $120 Axxis MetalMaster Pads - $85 Wheels & Tires Rota Slipstreams 16 x 7 Black - $400 Kumho Ecsta SPT 205/55/16 - $290 w/ installation Muteki Lugnuts - $45 Suspension Tein S.Tech Springs - $195 (for sale soon) Eibach Pro Dampers - $375 (for sale soon) Ingalls Front Camber Plate - $65 Ingalls Rear Camber Shims - $65 H & R Rear Sway - $110 FocusSport Front Strut Brace - $70 FocusSport Rear Stress Bar - $60 Tein SS Coilovers (I switched to these and it's my current setup) - $1200 Interior Sparco Torino Seats - $550 Seat Bases - $160 (Not installed yet) Razo Shift Knob - $45 STR Cig Lighter - $15 Exterior Mach HID Headlights - Free SVT Front Bumper - $250 SVT Rear Bumper - $250 North Viking '99 WRC Wing (Not installed yet) - $275 I spent a total of $6422 in this car. It's pretty much where I want it to be at this moment. Not looking to go extremely fast just as long as I can smoke a few cars in AutoX. Right now, I'm working on my MR2. I spent $1650 buying that thing, and another $1800 putting in a 7A-GE Hybrid swap into it. I even have the seats for that, which are Sparco Fighters that came out to $550 as well for the pair. Those garage sales are killer.

Not including labor, because i/we did it all, and just with the current setup, parts alone, rough guess would be around 30k. Not including the first 3 engines, two trannys and countless misc parts that have come and gone. I'd guess over 40 if its a running total. Just to make the nitrous spray safely there's at least 4k in there. eesh.

If you never add it up and you don't know, you can never be accused of lying to your wife/gf/parents/etc about the amount!!!
I learned that long ago with a race car I had. ![]() Your honor, I honestly do not know how much I have invested in this project. Tony D |
