Leo Capaldi reminded me of an idea we've been kicking around for a couple of years about having a G2G at the Wayne, MI plant where the Focus is made. We are just trying to gauge interest so please take a moment to take the poll.
Thanks

Sure would. I have done it before and would do it again in a second.
I think it is really cheap also to do. If you are able to get in touch they would most likely let us hold a complete event on site somewhere. |

We should have no problem getting it set up due to our contacts within Ford. I just want to see what kind of response there is to the idea.
It's something (the tour) that I've yet to do myself. I've toured several other plants over the years but the Wayne plant would be really fun. |

My step-father works there.
I'm sure he can help if need be. - Drew

If that is this year, that is a bad day. That's the Woodward Dream Cruise. I'd love to see the plant, but I doubt the staff would be wanting a tour there on that day when all of Detroit will be watching everything on four wheels cruise down Woodward Ave. Now...that being said, how about we tour on the 17th and then Woodward it? If this doesn't pan out this year, maybe get things going for next year?

In conjunction with Woodward might not be a bad idea either. Thanks for the input.

I'll be in Michigan in August as well... but name a date, and I'll see what I can do. This sounds like a blast!

I don't know if the original poster's intent was to mean that they'd all join the cruise. ![]() But, it doesn't mean they can't all just park somewhere and watch the cruise and hangout as a group. |

A lot of the good parking spots are booked well in advance.
Still, if this is going to happen this year, anyone wanting to come down needs to start booking rooms and stuff (a lot of hotels will be filled asap).

Burger King and Firestone Tire are two lots we used to rent out for our Car Clubs. We stopped renting them for Woodward 3 years ago when they both went north of $15k for the day. Woodward DC is not what it used to be when it was free the first few years. I would prefer to see a Ford Plant G2G all to itself. If they have room for it maybe a meet N greet/car show in the parking lot. Like a mini JetFest 1!

Yeah, the Dream Cruise is a great idea, but I agree that it might be a bit harder to pull off. Which doesn't mean that people can't schedule a nice G2G for it though, I might be able to drive up for the day.
In all honesty, the plant tour will probably come down to being it's own event along with a G2G at/near it. Last edited by focaljet-1 : 04-07-2007 at 05:36 PM. |

I voted Yes!!
The only thing that would keep me away would be school scheduling or a broken car. Track, Auto-X, Drags... If NONE are available, I'd still like to go for the G2G. Of course, the more things that are available, the better, but friends, Focuses, and beer are a great start. ![]() |

And the Canadian stuff is just a short drive away ![]() But yeah, Michael brings up a great point. It's for the G2G and all the friends we've made on here.

Finally, a semi-major [FJ] event basically in my backyard.
I'm down for whenever. I've never been thru Wanye ISA. I've been thru Michigan Truck, which is next door, many times, but never the Focus plant. Another good idea might be to do the plant tour, then head down to Milan Dragway for antics there. It's only about 25 minutes from Wayne ISA to Milan Dragway.

I'll find out early next week just how many people they can accommodate on a single plant tour... and if they are willing to do more than one in a day.

I voted "other". I might try to fly in for this depending on when it ends up being. No FOTB to drive to this year (and JF schedule didn't work). Can't make USGP due to my club's 2-day autox the same weekend... I'm running out of ideas of what to get out of town and do this summer.

I plan on spending most of one day at the dream cruise. If there is a G2G for the jet too, then I will just have to come down to DET 2 days in a row. hehe. Its only an hour away.
