The teams were supposed to show up to media day with the street tires and then show up to the track with the track rubber. There wasn't an adequate size of street tire for Skunk to use so they just showed the car with the R compounds.

The wheels...I tried to get them coated all black, without the polished lip but I kind of had to talk everyone else into it and then we just started running out of time and it was too risky if they didn't turn out bitchin. I don't really like polished lip wheels all that much with black centers, but the majority of people seem to really dig them so I think it wasn't a bad choice in regards to our goals for the car.

I agree, I think wheels look best in one color, black wheels with polished lips look horrible in my opinion, and doesn't go with orange.

I still don't understand this competition, wouldn't it had been more even if the other team had to start out with a regular N/A FWD Lancer? What's in the next series? A Yugo build against a Enzo?

The Mini looks WAY overdone. But the engine bay looks sexified.

Focus looks the cleanest and best overall package.

Evo looks like they just didn't care about anything but performance.

black wheels with a polished lip are so damn sexy. the only thing i wish is that the center of the wheels was flat black like other parts of the car.

All black wheels were overdone 2 years ago.

Now black wheels with an orange lip would have been pretty interesting! That or even orange wheel with a black lip!

polished lips can be nice but I think they're more played out than all black by a mile...

No comparison.... in my very biased opinion. That'll probably be the most tasteful implementation of an 08 that we'll ever see.

I know Randy just mentioned that they get to use the sticky tires at the track, but what about the wheels? Do you have to run those same wheels at the track?

Personally, I really like the black wheels with the polished lip. The whole car really looks clean and sexy! Excellent job FS!

Nice work! Personally I think the EVO is going to be a track only car. Its going to be WAY too uncomfortable for anything but track days. The Mini looks cool, but my opinion is its a show car, driving it would be the LAST thing. The Focus looks cool, I can't wait to see it around the track.

been gone for a almost a week, so just thought i'd throw in my thoughts again.

i am also suprised they let the photo's out so soon, but they are nice to look at.

As far as the cars. i like all 3 actually. the evo looks like your typical time attack car....would not be suprised to see that car at the Superstreent (Primedia) or Redline time attacks by any means.....it's what skunk does, so they stuck with it. The mini....well if you look at what Fireballed does....it fits the bill EXACTLY. they are used to building show cars with a theme, and boy, that's what they did. overdone to some, but for media, it's great. and the Focus, well again, FocusSport did what they do....build clean, functional and to the point. they didn't let the expectation down.

now is any one better than the other....that's up to the judges. they didn't say it couldnt' be a Time Attack car, no word of it can't be an over-the-top them based car, or it had to stay clean and functional. it's all did they hit all the points (keep with their own theme from top to bottom) and kept it a performer when it needs to be one.

my only hope is the cheeziness slowly disapears as we get through the season. as shows like "Redline" pick up some of the tuner events now, seems like Speed could now bring more focus to the tuners on this show.

All I'd have to say, is if FS can transform a car, that 97% of this site hated, into something that most of us really do like and could see owning, I think they won already.
The Mini I like stock. But they just went overboard, and I don't like it.

I think the wheels were about the right choice. I could see your point with running out of time. Ya should had me handle the wheel department then, I woulda taken care of ya...hehe.
I like the black centers, it matched the hood/grille/roof. A painted lip would have been sexy. A glossy black lip with gold bolts woulda been even more sexier.
Are they HRE or Kenisis? And are they 3 piece?
