They but 3 hours with an Evo and a debit card, and you'll get much more power than you ever will with a Focus and dumptruck full of $100 bills.

The show is not about absolute power numbers. It's about largest GAIN over stock, and several other factors.

I didn't say it was. But, like others said...a Focus, a Mini, and an Evo?

It doesn't fit.

The show tries to pit a European car against a Domestic and a Japanese car. There aren't a whole lot of new domestic sport compacts with an aftermarket following that haven't already been put on the show. Heck, even a Mustang was a bit of a stretch.

I think its the best decision that Ford has made with the 08 Focus so far!

You said: "But no offense, won't the Evo still have more power stock than the FS Turbo Focus?"

So yes, you actually DID say it in so many words.

If you don't understand the concept of the show, well then I can't help you.

Do I even need to mention handling and track ability? Let alone looks?

Comparatively, I'm pretty sure the Evo wins all of those correct?

I didn't think I needed to bring anything else up besides HP, because there already settled.

In any case, this 08 is going to be sick and I think Ford lucked out in getting FS to build this car in the puiblic eye. 08 Focuses will be suddenly much cooler. I have total confidence in FS's work, style, products, and innovation so I think its going to rock.

Well, I'm pretty sure FocusSport's '05 ZX3 Turbocharged 2.3L beat the everlivingcrap out of some Corvettes, Porsches, and a Ferrari F430 or two at JetFest2. Not to mention the several race-prepped Evos and Minis that were there as well. So I'd assume that they're gonna build an '08 that will be just as all-out as that car is, not to mention being much better looking than the stock.

*True, but people still drive those cars.

Anyways, I'm done. It's sure to be cool, and I hope FS builds something sweet.

i was at Jetfest2 as well, and attend plenty of NASA Time Trial events.....and Focus sport stomped on some trailored cars. it was damn funny seeing their reactions as it went by them in a blink in some cases.

hopefully they do the track time on Big Willow this year and not streets, if that's the case i think Randy and them have plenty chances to be right with the evo. and who knows, i think i've seen 3 of Skunk's engines grenade in the last 18 months or so.....maybe Charles will put this one a bit too close to the enge as well?

as far as the mini, i know they are responsible for the "fastest mini in the world" (over 600hp out of their 1.8)....and they have been building them for a LONG time.

i think the further it goes, the more interested i am in this years show!

Pretty common to see Evo's with 600hp in the time attacks. They have huge dollar investments but very quick.

Nik from Redline hosted year one, and I helped with coaching and timing the final show. 12 hrs, in 115 heat, helped solve some problems, no pay and then no mention in the credits. Left a crappy taste in my mouth. Plus there was a promise from them to post my analysis of the drivers performance based upon all we learned from the data acquisision we brought. They didnt do anything with that

If it was dollar for dollar it would be close. Considering the EVO and Mini have a price jump from the start.

i think their final track day is either this week or next, but i'm not sure when it first airs. i would guess all taping would be done before they air the 1st episode....but not really a necessity i guess?

Just got a call from one of the Producers of the show notifying me of the date of the final shoot... I wont say where it is or what date it is, for obvious reasons.

In regards to the Focus doing well in the lapping part of the competition.. Considering how fast I know Focus' to be on the road course when properly built, and that this show uses the IMPROVEMENT over stock as the competition, I think the Focus has the edge, just as the Fit had the edge in this category last year. The amount of time Skunk was able to improve their Fit's lap times to compared to a stock Fit was amazing.

i dont think it is just about building a more hp car than the other. I think they also focus on making the individual car better than it was!
i mean the last season had a fit vr a mustang no way would the fit (well maybee) be on hp with it! BUt when they did the dynos they looked at gain over stock percentage!

Not to take away from what FS did with their car at Jetfest2, That car was very fast for a Focus and FS built a great car. But, it still wasn't as fast as Dieter's Evo or the Crawford STi. Of course some of that could have been the suspension.

It's just really hard to compare a Focus with a AWD Turbo Evo, STi or S4. Those things can be monsters. Evo's took the top 3 positions in TTR at NASA Nationals.
