the 600hp mini was a drag car they build. you can usually find it by searching "worlds fastest mini" if that helps. think it was a 10.7 car or something on the 1.6 with mucho boosto. but can they do that and make the car turn.....i haven't seen that from them yet?

...and i haven't checked other forums yet. but did they not show that opening sequence to anyone before letting it be put on there?? i mean, it can't just be us that thinks it was horrible, can it?

They may have a challenge with the new Mini motor since it doesn't share anything with the old one.

Yea, but it did look like FS got a preproduction car and not a standard factory car. The car looked like it had some miles on it in the shop along with it being covered in rust for a brand new car. Looked like it had been on the streets for a few weeks already.

The car we got is a pre-production car that was used for testing in Michigan, so its got some rusty parts on it, yes.

did ford give it to you to make the show or did you have to pull teeth to make them sell you one?

OK, it was their SEMA car that had yet to be built. But as Randy said, the pre-production model they got still did not reach them in time for the opening credits shoot.

I have a question about the 08 Foc they are using in the Challenge. If it is an 08 the brakes are front disc rear drum setup. It would make things a little dicey if the team puts 330 HP to the wheels. The Foc would be a wild bandit because it wouldn't be able to stop. So does anybody know if the Foc used on the show has front and rear disc or the stock disc/drum factory combo.

The reason I ask this is because I just read Car and Drivers initial review of the 08 Foc and they recorded a whooping 190 foot stopping distance.

http://www.caranddriver.com/shortroa...ons-page2.html

Now Car and Driver did not specify if they had ABS equipped on there test car or not. However, if it was equipped with ABS and it does have the stopping distance of 190 feet with only 140 Hp. Imagine what the stopping distance would be if the Foc had 330 HP. That would kill the cars handling. The driver would have to ride the brakes all the time.

As many people have pointed out in other threads about the 08 Focus. The FocusSport White Hatch race car that pushes I think near 300hp is running a rear drum set up and did fine at the track while passing Corvettes.

I'm not for a drum setup at all, I agree this car should have rear disks. But its not something that will make the car squirrelly or dangerous by a long shot. Remember in small cars MOST of your braking is all up front...

They can upgrade the brakes if they'd like.

The car in my signature is running the stock size rotors cross drilled with high performance pads and the stock rear drums. We've already proven it can be done and you can see it in action here:

http://focussport.com/jetfest2_video2.htm

The good stuff starts about 2 minutes into the footage.

Damn................... you passed a Porsche and a Vette. I thought you couldn't have a Disc/drum setup in a high performance car because the drums would burn up. I guess that answers my question.

I heard that Mark Fields mentioned FocusSport and their effort in the Street Tuner Challenge in company-wide broadcast to employees earlier this week.

Pretty impressive when an executive at that level gives you props.

Congrats FocusSport!

There are a number of Focus owners who regularly track their cars (including me) that still have the factory rear drums installed. Sure, it would be nice to have rear discs on my car, but the drums have held up just fine. Maybe I need to get in a car that has the rear discs so I can make a good comparison...

Egz,

does your car have rear discs?

Yes. A junkyard set from an 2001 AdvancTrac Focus. I'm sorry that when you got your hands on it, I was down to my last cm of brake pad in the front. Those are now in the trash, and almost all the parts for my 2005 front conversion is here.
