This is spawned by another thread about missing your focus after selling it or moving on. I miss mine and have thought about what I would get if I returned.

Short of waiting for the new Focus to come out, I woul dlove to get a 2004 PZEV ATX ZX3. As for mods, I wouldn't do much at all.

SVT Springs
Adjustable Dampers
Rear Sway bar
Intake
Cat Back
SCT

That'd be about it. Just keep it clean.

I still have mine but if I were to repurchace it I would add a few things to my options list. I bought mine as a base zx3 with A/C as the only option, so my options list would now include power locks and windows, sunroof, stock alloys (16s), and fog lights. Ive purchased the last 2 since but it would have been nice to have from the get go.

However if I could have afforded it back then I would have gotten an SVT.

Yes, it isn't much... the degree of modification is so subtle that unless you know what you're looking at you'll pass over it to look at a more heavily-modded car which is why I don't even bother with contests like Focus of the Month.

What has changed it's appearance lately, though, are the addition of slightly lower springs and low-offset wheels (that stick out more from the wheelarch).

I love this thing; the way it drives and how it feels. The 2.3 has so much torque (for a 'banger) that the ATX is not too much of a penalty on performance (that being it's second, 1.50:1 gear... similar to the MTX's 1.45:1 3rd). A performance valvebody helps much for improved shift quality. The ATX is indeed a four-speed and OD (4th) can be shifted in and out of with a button. It's sweet...

Now then, I could continue to ramble on about the car, but to answer your original question should anything happen to this silver jewel I get to drive daily I'd try to get my hands on a clean, low-mileage '05 ST. That car's 2.3 and it's 3.82 axle are a beautiful combination.

That sounds like my car.
04 pitch black with ATX, Cosworth CAI, Borla cat back, H&R sport. KYB AGX, 22mm progress RSB, kona rack, et45 black rota slipstreams, BFG G-force sports, and euro ST170 body. This is my current car but the front lip is not installed in this picture.

but as we all know...the grass is always greener on the other side. If I were to do it again I would go for a white 04' 2.3 ZX3 with a 05+ front end conversion, euro 98 rear bumper, MTX, coilovers, et40 Bronze rota grids, azenis, LSD, stage 2 clutch, FS stage 2 turbo, a rear seat delete, cage and race seats.

I built my car to be comfortable and fun on my commute now I am itching for something I can take to the track.maybe I should just get a second focus.

If i were to get back into a focus, i'd get either a 2003/04 SVT 5 door, leave it basically bone stock* and daily drive it, or get a 04 sedan pzev 2.3 with a 5 spd, leave it basically bone stock* and daily drive it.

*what i consider "basically bone stock" may differ from others opinions.

BTW i have a base 04 lx with only abs and a/c and i ripped the a/c out about 2 years ago.

I've not gotten out of a Focus in over 6 years, and I really don't see me ever fully separating myself from the car in the future either. I have an early '00 ZX3 ATX in Maliblue with power windows and manual everything else. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably go with an '03ish Cloud 9 White Power Premium ZX3 MTX, but I've learned to get very used to what I have right now

I would get an 03 or 04 wagon in black or LG with the 2.3, AT or MT doesn't matter to me, w/ black 16" slipstreams, svt front bumper or do an 05-07 front end conversion with the SAP and then do basic bolt ons.

White 2.3 wagon, AT, either done up rallye car style (lifted, pushbar, roofrack with spare, external lights, etc) or slammed on some kind of dished wheel.

Another cool one to do would be a comp orange or screaming yellow SVT. I miss my little "racecar."

They only thing I wish I had on mine(03 2.3l zx3) is that i want power door locks and power windows. Hand cranking sucks!

I'm still in a Focus and won't be getting out of it until its wrecked or rusted beyond repair.

I'd be looking at an 08 Vista Blue Coupe, fully loaded, with an MTX. Catback, SCT tune, coilovers, and a set of Work 18" VS-XXs in gold. I'm essentially daily driving a race car, so it'd be nice to have something a little more subdued for daily driving. That said, I wouldn't trade my current car for anything.

i put myself back in a Focus when i wrecked the GTO. it was an almost-loaded 05 ST, real nice car. but apparently i had conveniently forgotten to remember that i don't really fit all that well. still like the car, but now my buddy has it and i still get to enjoy it from time to time.

now, the GTO on the other hand, i would get another one just like my 04. sure, the 05/06 has the LS2, but that's nothing an LS6 upgrade couldn't remedy. damn i miss that car sometimes......
