One of the comments in the Autoblog post, anybody from here?

Quote:
I was the one who scanned the pictures from the Autobild Sportscars magazine...

The sideview is for sure a little photoshop
The rims and stand is REAL they just black painted the space between the rims to hide the brake system!!!!

The picture source Autobild sportscars claim, they recived the pictures from manufactor Ford Europen HQ Cologne Germany, pictures taken by Varicak (photograph).

Facts from the article
- The Focus RS II is developt by Ford Cologne Germany like the Focus RS I.
- It hit the market in fall 2009.
- The picture source Autobild claimed manufactor Ford.
- Chassie from the curret Focus ST
- same 5cyl engine beefed up to 300hp
- larger Turbo
- larger intercooler
- remap CPU
- stronger pistons
- polished intake mainfold
- Getrag DSG tranny (6speed)
- over 10% lower consuption/emission compared to ST
- it was a surprise for Autobild sportscars to hear that it gests FWD and not as tought the AWD system from the Volvo S40 T5 AWD which shares the same platform as the Euro Focus (Ford C1 Platfrom)
- high performance tractioncontrol
- electronic controlled limited slip dif

not clear now if the limit it to 250km/h (155mph) or let it run unlimited to 270km/h (169mph)

Stuff like this makes me so sad and Ford still wonders why their sales are terrible in the US.

Why would Ford want to kill off their precious Mustang?

I don't quite see how the two would be tied. You can have a V8 and a turbo 4 in your lineup. Lots of companies do it; Dodge, Chevy, etc. Let's not go blaming the Mustang as the reason why we don't have a RS here. Let's put the blame where in belongs, in the front office.

...and furthermore, I agree. The Mustang is about the only thing making a worthwhile profit for them (and the F-150).

You people have no idea how much the F150 makes for Ford all over the world.

I will have to say nah on that. Front brakes are not correct for the RS and the suspension is too low. The photos are not consistant as it shows a LHD car but the interior of a RHD car. Nice rendering though.

It is a nice rendering.... I highly doubt they'll use the existing ST style wheels though... that just wouldn't be a wise marketing move in my opinion.

Since we won't get the RS, what could be done to a Volvo C30?

Default Re: 2009 Focus RS reveiled in Euro Magazine

Those exact same shots are in CAR magazine. The blacked out areas where the brakes should be just jumps out at ya...

They say that "Black mules based on the pre-facelift Focus ST have hit the Nurburgring for testing." and an interesting tidbit also....."that factory-tweaked ST's had hit 170mph on German autobahns." Otherwise the article is a lot of speculation and estimation which seems consistent with the trumped up pics. A lot of the article is rehashed talk about the previous RS and how good of a driving experience it was. I liked the bit about how he had taken the scariest corner (of where he didn't specify) in RS at 115mph and in the "bug-eye" Impreza only managed 105mph.

Amongst the few facts in the article that stand out are that Jost Capito is the new vehicle line director of Ford Performance vehicles, previous of Fords Rally program. Then, a carrot dangled in front of us with this: The appointment of Jost Capito confirms a major commitment to the development of future performance derivatives of Ford models. It sends a signal that we are seriously committed to continuing our WRC success, plus strengthening the links between our competition vehicles and performance road vehicles." So that carrot is what they are basing a lot of this whole thing on, that it means an RS is coming. Then this quote "To mark the UK market's importance, the Focus RS is pencilled in for a world premier at August's London motor show."

Those quotes are from February 2008 Car (UK) magazine.

The cat has been out tof the bag on the RS coming for some time now. Like middle of last summer?

There are several Focus ST's hitting 300hp with mild tuning, some you can even buy at dealerships. The first 300hp ST was built about a week after it was released to public. I believe that Sascha, of the forbidden site, has his to 280hp or more. If you look at the sppeeds in the gearing you can see that it is very capable of getting to 170mph.
