I would say people are retarded, but that's an insult to the people that are actually mentally challenged. I am ditching my grandpas dakota that gets 14 miles to the gallon in favor of a 2.3L ranger that gets 25, this weekend. Count me out on the cupholders preference.

I call a bunch of crap and BS on this stupid report. I wish people would stop listening to this crap.... Whenever you actually get the details of how some of these market research and focus group reports are done you'll see its a total waste of time. Sadly people believe them till the cows come home.

I recently read a review of the Astra in the Detroit Free Press, and they complained about the cupholders and no spot for an iPod to be plugged in. The article said it missed the mark for what American consumers want. I could care less if my iPod hooks into my car, and I own a Focus, so I am used to having to buy special cups to fit the cupholders anyway. Really, we need to get back to car "basics".

Yeah what the hell is it with people and their damn ipod?? I will never buy satellite radio and I haven't bought a new CD in years. I am quite happy with my FM channels. FREE FM channels that is.

Maybe I'm just 23 and old school.

And furthermore, what is with people and their music in general? Everything is tuned for music now. SYNC system ipod adapters. Every tool between the age of 13-17 (and plenty of others) have their earbud earphones in at all time no matter where they are. Get some F'ing social skills. I like music just as much as the next but I don't find it necessary to listen to it everywhere I go.

Sorry for the rant.

And now for a comment on topic...statistics can be twisted to say whatever you like them to. Although I do believe that there are people stupid enough to prefer cupholders over gas mileage.

Well, basics could mean many things. Cars were originally built to replace horses. They were intended to just be a form of transportation. Most people still look at them this way. Just because we are more enthusiastic about them doesn't equate to the general public feeling this way.

As far as the iPod/Satellite Radio it's the same thing. Although you might not want an iPod/Satellite Radio, I wouldn't drive a car without BOTH. It's all a matter of what makes your drive to work, etc... a better experience.

You wouldnt drive that thing Mr Garrison (from South Park) made because it is Fuel efficient?

So what's so bad about being comfortable and enjoying your drive to and fro?

obviously if you havent bought a cd in years, you are not a music fan.

i wish an ipod hooked up to my mustang. i hate fm radio. nothing i like is ever on.

i only use my ipod once a week. on truck night i put it on the speaker dock thingy. hit page and my ipod plays thru the whole store. its much better than cvs radio. the other truck night my ipod wasnt working. omg time went so slow not having real music.

and polarisman. sorry every month or so. i pick up all the change that accumulates in the cupholders and floor, and put it in this jug i have. last time i went to the coinstar at commerce i got $140.

Thats not true its called illegal downloads. Don't see the point of buying a CD that usually only has a couple good songs and costs 10-15 or whatever the hell they cost now.

iPod + audiobook = great for making the time fly by on long trips.

My cupholders in the vic are full of dried flowers that Rylie picks for me.

You can get an AUX-IN adapter for your car. It will allow you to have a direct input to your sound system.
