If your talking about the guy from NAM, that whole situation was cleared up with MINI USA and they honored his warranty. It was just dealer level crap.

Lol. Not really. Maybe Ferrari.

From my understanding, SVTOA does, too. If the event is put on by them.

Of course that could be completely wrong.

No, I'm talking about the MINI I drove to second place at Nationals in 2004. They wouldn't honor the warranty replacement for that transaxle either. I don't necessarily blame them... ProSolo drag launches are tough on it.

Fast sure, boring as hell to look at defiantly. My money would go to a MS3. Speed and handling isn't everything.

this sounds like a fun job:

Quote:
To ensure the clutch has a shot at surviving the five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty period, the GMPD engineers tell us that they installed the largest, most robust clutch that would possibly fit and even downsized the flywheel to accommodate it. The engineers also did 600 launches on a single test car to verify their work.

the only problem with that is ford isnt going to make any money off the aftermarket stuff. they need to offer a turboed focus with different upgrades. id be all over it. the cobalt looks like its going to be a sick car tho.

Are there any teams getting this car homologated for Koni Challenge yet? It should be even faster with the revised suspension geometry and more torque.

Nice mix of reactions
Good to see that some of you would still rock an MS3 over the SS. I would get one, based on performance of course. But I am glad my car has both looks & performance.
We'll just have to wait and see what the comparison tests say.

On another note; I see alot of haters on the mazda forums I visit from time to time. Good to see we have open minds here...Still the best forum I've been on

Funny -- I had to re-read this post twice to make sure I didn't post it. These are exactly my thoughts.

Kudos to GM for coming up with a decent FWD sport compact, though. Now if it just looked as hot as it performs [cough]Saturn Astra[/cough].

$20 less ... .2 seconds faster in the 1/4 ... .1 seconds slower in the slalom than the MS3. I'll take the MS3 with it's million times better interior fit and finish and it's general grown up-edness. Not to mention, for all the time and money spent in improving the SS, you'd think they would have been able to squeeze a stupid temp. guage into that dash. Hell, they are already sticking guages in the A-pillar, why not stuff on up there with the boost guage.

I personally don't think there is much a debate which one to choose.... they make different cars for different people, and both will suit their buyers well I suspect.

How has no one commented that this car doesn't really have launch control yet? It has nothing more than a 2 step rev limiter, not launch control.

The torsion beam is a money saving bodge............no one should dispute you can go quick with one.......that's not difficult (insert comment of over 20 years of competitive torsion beam experience here)

It's having a ride/handling *compromise* that resides in the 21st century instead of the last one that would be the appropriate concern.

LOL, I was thinking the exact same thing man. The way they explain it seems like some old school hot rod tech you can put on any car.

WOT upshifts are super nice though. I have my track bike set up for it and it's amazing.

I'd rather take the engine out of the SS and put it in an Aveo.

I'd still rather have a hatch than a coupe or sedan.....
