Drove all over the place on Saturday too before I had to go to work. They're closed Sunday/Monday around here, so tomorrow afternoon I should be swinging by. Just don't know the color yet as it'll depend simply on whats cheapest.

I was almost afraid to make this post, cuz if for some reason I don't get one of these this week, I think the whole forum is gunna make fun of me (more than usual)!
I know, confusing since I had to change my mind when I could only find a single SV650SF in the greater Houston area, and they were VERY proud of it.

Thats hot, but the other thing I found out is that there are no black Versyseseses in Houston... then I found out there are none in North America period.

They only brought over red ones for this year.

Well I gave up on used...I will hopefully be buying a new SV650 in the next week or so. Can't wait to hear that echoing off the buildings.

Good luck. Now you have to deal with the sharks.

Exepect lots of: "oh man, you're bustin my balls man... my balls are in pain... I'll never be able to have children. OK, OK, OK, I'll talk to my manager, and hope he doesn't just rip off my left nut as well for insulting him like this. But I like your style man. You're aggressive and know what you like. Thats good.

I'll be right back."

*45 mins later as you walk out the door*

"Woah hold on, man I took a beating in there. Well, tell ya what, we can take $25 off the MSRP. (you asked for $300 off)

You get ready to leave. OK, hold on, man, I must just love the abuse. If you're serious about this, maybe we can throw in a warranty or discounts on some add-ons and get "the man" to settle down and still make you a rediculous deal.

OK, I'll be right back..."

*45 mins passes*

"Alright, tell ya what, lets get the paperwork going here, and I'll show ya what we can do. Step into my office."

*me: not until you tell me the OTD price, then I'll sit down*

"Well, uhhhh.... work with me man. Bustin' my balls. Seriously, why do you hate my balls? What have my balls ever done to you???"

Yeah, I'm sure that works really well. If you are doing anything over the phone or internet, they are dealing with thousands of people just like you and would rather not even waste their time. If they can snag you in person, they can play the game, and that's where they make their money. Trying to wheel and deal on the phone is wasting their time, so should they send you a bill?

I work better with salesmen than Joe Schmo with the busted-ass bike that's been laid down, but he still wants Blue Book for it. Wasting my time.

FocusOnPunk:

Have you been up to Banzai Motorsports (I think it's in Crystal Lake) yet? Looking at their ads and online inventory and whatnot it seems like they may be the best place to try and get a deal...That's where I intend to get my SV next month if my theory proves true. I just haven't had a chance to make the trek up there yet.

That works IF you trick them.

Tell them you just left XYZ with an OTD price of "$100 higher than you want them to be", can you beat it? I have cash in hand and am ready to buy. If they say yes, you call the next dealership and say I just left XYZ with an OTD price of "what the last dealer quoted", cash in hand, ready to buy.

I did that ALL DAY!!! 24 dealers total, lol!

I finally got a Dallas dealer down to $6911.00 out the door for a yellow V-Strom 650. Not a great deal for four months ago, but they are HARD to find right now. Went in person to three local dealers and the lowest prices I got were $8150, $7980 + $200 in free accessories, and finally $7100 OTD. For $200, screw it, that saves me 8hrs travel round trip and the concern I get screwed by a far-away dealer.

Banks were closed, so I have my deposit down, picking it up at 9AM tomorrow morning!

I was really aiming for $6700, but I checked around, and towards late April peeps were paying $7800+ for that bike.

I haven't talked to anyone in person yet...Crystal Lake, man that's far away lol. I intend to try my luck at Chicago Cycle because I can take a bus there We'll see how it goes. I'm going out of town this weekend, so I can't do anything until next week.

I'm going out of town this weekend as well, and then I have the MSF course the following weekend (been a while since I've ridden regularly and the girlfriend wants to learn so we're doing it together), and then I have an open track day at BHF the following weekend so it's gonna be post-Memorial Day before I can seriously shop.

I was at Chicago Cycle last weekend and they had zero SV650s (naked OR faired) and only one SV1000S (which was a 2007 model). The guy I talked to was so clueless as to the bikes I was talking about (tried to tell me the 650 nakeds had the lower fairing piece like the 1000Ss, among other things) and was basically trying to sell me bikes I didn't want (but that they had in stock, of course). He told me he could order an SV650 naked for me of course, but I figured I'd make the trip up to Crystal Lake at the beginning of June and check out Banzai, since they claim to have such great prices and a seemingly HUGE inventory.

If you'd like to hitch a ride up there with me, I can send you a PM the week before I go (unless of course you end up buying something before then). Just let me know.

Oh, and when they say they can "order" one for you, apparently this is BS and not how US distributers work.

What they will do is "buy" one (trade) from another dealership in the area, and sell it to you. Its cheaper to find that other motorcycle dealership, and just buy it from them directly, cuz otherwise you have profits margin x2 in there before thats worthwhile for both dealers. Best of luck!!!

This was already my suspicion. I figured if they coud "order one" for me than I should be able to "build my own" on the Suzuki website, which of course is not possible...the only options on the website are "find a dealer" and "get a quote from a dealer."

Have fun on your new Wee!

Its never NOT worked for me. But then again, I always show up with cash in hand or a big check. Plus i'm a little older, so i'm afforded a few things the younger guys aren't.
