^^I believe the laws vary by state and insurance company, and I know that in IL at least with a car that you have something like a 24 hour "grace period" when buying a new vehicle (though this may only apply to "replaced" vehicles, and not in the case of a "first car", but IDK for sure) in order to get it insured. It might be the same for bikes

Either way, let me know what they require of you when you pick it up, FocusOnPunk. I'm pretty sure I've decided to buy my bike up here before moving to Jacksonville at the end of June. I just can't wait

I am seriously considering Hyosung GT650R, 60MPG

78HP to the wheel. Went the dealer they had a 07 w/ 88 miles on it for 5600. Brand new bike. I am seriously considering one. They have a Dyno jet kit for it, that + intake, exhaust is 10+ HP to the wheel. Install a 14 tooth front sprocket, which increases the acceleration. I road the one at the dealership, and to me there was difference is the CBR 600 RR, or the R6 as far as speed. This Hyosung has awesome low-midrange trq, it pulls nice. Better than the R6. The R6 doesn’t even hit the power-ban until 12k, so its all or nothing pretty much. With the Hyosung in second at 3k, throttle it back and it pulls really nice all the way up. Plus I could pay the bike off in no time, and save a crap load of money on gas. On top of that they, they're the only manafacture to offer a 2 year unlimited milage warrenty. Honda, Yam, Kawa, all 1 year warrenties.

most of my vehicle insurance (car or bike) has a clause that if i trade in the old one, or buy another one they will cover it for 48 hours without reporting it or listing it on the policy, i have to call and add the vehicle to the policy before times is up though.

State laws gives no grace period

OMG. SO AWESOME! I will post pics tomorrow probably. It's too damn cold outside to have a photoshoot.

Man, this thing is sweet. Even taking it easy on the RPMs, that V-twin is a monster.

PS, no need to show even a license at the dealer. I had to show one when I ordered it, but actually, at the time I didn't have a motorcycle endorsement . But they didn't ask for it again, or for proof of insurance.

You do realize that that is SV650 territory with an actual warranty that you could use and a reputable motorcycle.

^^No kidding.

Plus, the Hyosung is basically a sub-par copy of the first gen SV650...

I'm jealous. I just dropped some major coin on an engagement ring, but the SV is taunting me still and I may have to drop the hammer soon or I might go crazy, especially after the MSF course I took last weekend renewed my fever...

So, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying OTD?? You can always PM me if you don't want to publicly announce it...

Don't get me wrong, the Hyosung is decent looking for a Korean bike. I just don't hear much in terms of actual support after the purchase. But the SV is proven and that engine is going over 30k miles.

Nliitend1, I seriously would consider looking used on one unless you need the ABS. One with decently low mileage can be had in the mid $4ks pretty much all day around these parts. Not sure about Chicago, though.

I can attest to the fact there is little to no used SV650 inventory here. Not sure why. Especially if you want a 2nd gen. And then what is available, the price jump to brand new is so small it was worth it for me.

^^This has been my observation as well, but since I'm moving to Jacksonville at the end of June I'm gonna check around online to see if I can find any down there and perhaps wait until I move to buy...if I can bring myself to wait that long.

Uhmmmmmmmmmmm PICS!?!??!?!?!?!?!

Oh BTW, I got that Teknic Supermesh... I ordered it along with another that I'm still waiting on. Its pretty nice, and fits well. I'll either keep it and return the other or get this one size smaller, but getting a replacment/return from newenough is super easy. The price at $80 is right too, and they have tons of colors:

Hey FocusOnPunk, I'm working 2nd shift all this week except for Friday, but I'd like to check out your bike sometime before Monday when I'm planning to go to a few shops. You gonna be available at all?

Damnit. I've been fighting back and forth inside the brain and I've finally decided to stick with the Ninja 500. Ride it around and save up some cash and then pick up the F800GS. I actually finally started looking at the DL650 and found one with 3000 miles for$5500. But I figure that's $3k saved towards the 800GS. Now, to build myself a rear luggage rack out of some ammo cans and some other form of actual rack. Damn you guys and your money. [/shake fist]

Aint nuffin' wrong with teh Ninja.

I gotz my stuff and junk! Time for farklin! Will post the full butt-beaded big screened wide-load glory when all is installed. Unfortunately, all this stuff weighs as much as a malnourished asian girl.

Not the Stebel airhorn; because sometimes yelling "**** YOU DOUCHECANOE" in your helmet at that bitch on the cellphone just isn't enough.

Alright alright, here's some pics of the new ride. Sorry for the cell phone pics...it's 45 degrees today (after being 83 yesterday), so it's a miracle I even took her out of the garage.

And in the garage next to her long-lost kissing cousin, a Ducati Monster. Supposedly owned by a girl...I need to meet her.

FocusOnPunk, for some reason i was expecting a 650s, but that's a damn nice-looking bike. first things first, get that monstrosity of a can off there and replace it with something more suitable. i like the 2 Bros systems, but that's just me. stay away from the Leo Vince hi-mounts if you plan on doing any 2-up riding.
