Dude, genetics totally own me. I cannot get the camera positioned dead center like you've got it due to my gigantic schnoz. I can manipulate the camera to my right eye and wedge it in the visor, but then I lose all of the vision in my right eye. Damnit all to hell.

I wear a Large size helmet, its thin up front, and the camera is only .9 inches thick. My shnaz is pretty voluptuous.
Regarding the vid quality, I'm still experimenting/screwing up: 1st = Low Res setting on camera (oops) stretched in Premiere. 2/3rd = Low res setting on camera, NOT stretched, but stretched by the website (hence blocky). 4th = High res (RTFM n00b), cropped to 720x720 not stretched. ![]() I gotta go run a crapload of errands in the morning, so I'll make one during DAYLIGHT for a change! You guys don't HAVE to do it the way I did, there are much better setups than my ghetto rig. I just like it cuz its cheap and takes two seconds to slide in place. I wanna see some vids from OTHER peeps though. Thats an order maggots! Dismissed. ![]() PS: I do have some ideas for future episodes. I'm thinking of driving into downtown ghetto and doing a "COPS" style video heheheh! Also maybe go through some drivethrus on the motorcycle and mess with the kings of burger. Then hopefully get some ACTUAL adventure riding done, which would look cool eating up the trails on scenic routes with other motorcycles in view.

I tried the camera in the helmet technique and it didn't work out too well. I got way too much pavement and too little 'action' recorded. This probably has to do with the very aggressive clamshell rider position on my bike so I end up looking down a lot.

IT HAS BEGUN!!!!
Sweet dude! Quality is awesome! Maybe just a wedge in there or something to tilt it up, and then it'd be peerrrfect. Otherwise, you'll have to rename yourself to Shadowrider, since we're watching the outline of ya heheh! Wicked exhaust note on that baby. ![]() Next sequel I demand you get paddle tires and go racing on the beach scaring pedestrians and making sand jumps to Knievel over small children making sand castles. PS: Not just AIDS... africanized jungle AIDS! The worst kind! ![]()

Just tried wedging something between the camera and the helmet and it's a tough choice between recording video and breathing. There might be some play but it'd be just pushing the comfort level. Will keep trying.
I was checking out this camera and it seems pretty cool. I can even mount it on my mountain bike and get some cool trail videos. What I don't like about it is it's not HD and it doesn't record sound. I'm also toying with an idea of making my own mount.

They have a good idea with just using a strap though!
I bet you could just make a strap to hold any camera externally to your chin of the helmet, at whatever angle (and horizontal) you like. Have the part that holds the camera also cover the microphone holes to shield it from wind, and put a little foam piece there too, but open on the back. You'd have to talk a bit louder, but it should still hear you fine. In fact, I think I'm going to do that so I can take horizontal videos! ![]() edit: DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, get a big velcro strap for easy connect/disconnect, and put a little velcro (hook part) on the bottom part of the helmet at a few places so it doesn't slip. The strap would go through a little camera "holster" that you make that is basically just a big L. The bottom of the L would just have a hole in it with a washer at the end thats the same pitch as your camera's hold (all small digicams have little holes on em to mount them to tripods)!!!!!!!!!!!! If you make the joint of the L an adjustable hinge, then you can adjust the tilt of the camera!!! GENIUS! ![]()

Ehh for what you want to do I would actually stay away from the Oregon Scientific camera. Its good for wet enviroments but the quality isn't great, but it does have audio even though its a bit muffled. I've used it alot for Mountain biking and Jet Ski'ing. If I were you I would look into this camera Shoots 720p at 60fps. I just bought one at Target for $150. Its not waterproof but I don't think you'll need waterproof. Though this of course would have to go outside your helmet and I'm not sure if you can use an external mic with it, you'll need an external mic if you want to hear anything while traveling more than 5mph.

With the plastics on the front of it, that is a really nice looking bike. Is it just the 650s that don't come with them, or is it a separate options package?

very nice! my brother has the exact same bike, right down to the color. respect it, though. it's a seriously torquey beast! he's not running with fairings on his right now. actually, he's had them off for quite a bit. i could ask him if he's interested in selling them if you wanted. Mike

the newer 650S does come with the lower fairings, but only the SV1K came with the chin spoiler. IIRC. Mike

^^Technically, the new SV650S is now called the "SV650SF," to delineate the fairing change. You're spot-on about the SV1000 and the chin spoiler though.

hey, Duc, where did you get your air horn and how loud is it? the horn on my bike is so weak you can't even hear it with the helmet on going down the highway.
