I just came from my dealer (of course with no camera).

2009 SEL sedan was in their back lot. Leather interior.
Rear headrests are confirmed (at least on the Canadian SEL models) AND at all three seating positions!
Sadly, though, the chrome fender appliques are still on the sucker (maybe just an SEL thing).

SEL? I thought they were SES's only? Did Ford add the SEL trim? Not that there would be a huge difference, afterall; the things that seperate a SE from a SES are the wheels and a spoiler. Heck, you have more options with the SE than you do with the SES. With a SE you can get the Euro-flange wheels (which looks sweet in person) with the SES, only one style of wheels, and only 4 choices of paint colors. After that everything on a SES can be found on a SE.

I thought the SES coupe was the only Focus to get the 09 sporty exterior?

In Canada, they differentiated the model lineup from the US. For 2008, the package with the sport alloys, limited colours etc. were part of a Sport Appearance Package available on an SES.

The 09 Canadian SES is taking the package with the 17-inch EAP-like wheels, and apparently a 1mm thicker rear stabilizer bar -- your quasi-former ST model. The 09 Canadian SEL is the 08 current Canadian SES model, and you get the Euroflange rims, but the base rear stabilizer bar.'

I'm not sure whether they did the same naming in the US.

Why the hell do they waste time and money creating different packaging and badging for Canada?

Seems stupid to me.

Perhaps tastes on options are different in Canada?

Probably to justify the price premium they charge on our vehicles (compared to similarly equipped vehicles in the US).

According to what someone had posted on BON, only SES and SEL get the rear sway bar (it seems Ford uses the phrase "Enhanced European suspension" to differentiate those with the rear sway bar and the ones withouth, which is just phrased as "European suspension")

they don't even offer the same options /packaging/ marketing for most cars in different parts of the US. Why do you think the "build your own" website always asks for your zip code to build a car? The options are tailored to the different markets.

Marketing data.

i'm sure they use it for that too, but put in a different zip code some time. Remember the PZEV focus when you could ONLY get the 2.3 motor in parts of the US and in others you could only get the older zetec etc...

ALLOT of options and features on cars are like that. They just don't call attention to it and the fact that parts of the US are not give the same thing as other parts, they already get enough crap over the EU and the US.

Here is what we got. I am not sure if Ford is changing the naming scheme for us in 09 BUT, Canada has some interesting cars that we don't. Like the Acura 1.8 (I believe). Here we call that car a Civic. Then there is the 4 door Pontiac G5, we only get the coupe (even that is unnecessary since we have the Cobalt). Then there is the Suzuki Forenza, I forget what Chevy calls it up there.

It is kind of redundant for Ford to have two naming schemes for the Focus, unless it is like the Buick Lacrosse, which is an offensive term in French Canada I believe. A better example might be a Mexican Nova. No va roughly means doesnt go.
Does "SE" piss people off up there?

I am so glad I got my Focus in '07...the new body style still looks like an old Sentra to me.

Does any one have some decent pictures of the 09 focus. I want to se the SES sedan. I wonder if it gets the rear headrests too?

Let me get this straight. Will all of the SES coupes get the sport treatment? If so, does that mean SE and below will look like the 08's? I am thinking the sporty look is a option, just like the SAP's on the 06-07's.

I seen my first modded 08 Focus coupe. It had a suspension upgrade (dropped), aftermarket wheels and exhaust system, tint, and a lip kit on it.

The dealership down here is selling it. $27k with everything on it.

$27k for a Focus? Hell no!

Lets see...

The car can be built up to $19,000 (maybe higher), so that means the dealer would have to put $8,000 worth of mods on it. It is possible. Would I get it... It depends on what has been done, how good was the install and how good it looks and, if I am looking for something like that.

Sure I can buy a STI or a Evo for a little more (which seems to be the counterpoint that anyone will make). But if the car is tasteful and quick; I think, I wouldn't mind standing out.

And what if all of the work was done by Focus-Sport???? That changes things doesn't it?

More than likely no engine work was done to that dealer car, they're all just appearance mods.

^Which is probably what Random Select was hinting at. I was just making a case for the dealer car. I should have made a coffin instead.
