I predicted (as I'm sure many others did too) that the chrome fake vents would be gone and they are. Glad to see that the chrome grill is also gone. It stills looks like a Tempo but that's okay. I liked my Tempo. IMO, the 4 door will still look better than the coupe.

I'm still hanging on to my 01 ZX3 for another year or two and then see what hatches are out there.

The 05 to 07 car looks completely different with the Rally-like SAP, I actually liked it a lot over the first 05 face. But this refreshing still isn't enough to make me like it. Even if it were a hatch, that face is just not working for me.

Focaljet should become it's own car company, that way all the cars they build would be enthusiast cars and Ford can continue to cater to the masses and Focaljet Motors can cater to the enthusiasts.

But why does it always happen like this, they put out the car they think everyone wants, even though it's not what we say we want it, then they change more to what we, the enthusiasts, would have wanted in the first place. 05 restyle, Enthusiasts hated it, then comes the SAP to apease us but still not give us what we really wanted, the Euro Focus. Then comes 08, most Enthusiasts hated the look, so then they add Euro wheels and a bigger, more Euro like lower grill, still not giving us what we really want.

No doubt "some" people like this look of the car, but just look at who they are marketing too WOMEN

I have no problem with it. I of course will never buy one again until a good looking hatch version presents itself. I am very very hopeful for the fiesta, but I think my next car will most likely be that Kia Soul.

Gettin' there.....I'd still like to see a bona fide effort from Ford to get Focus back into the performance limelight.

There's no reason for the GTi and the Civic Si to have all the fun. It doesn't need to blow away an EVO or STi or even a WRX, but it should stomp on everything else below it. I'd like to see Ford take on the Cobalt SS, but I assume they're tasking that to Mazda.

Just give us SOMETHING.....

I like it. While I think a hatch is much more versitile, in the US alot of people associate the hatch with economy vehicles. Unfortuantely they haven't seen vehicles like the Z350 and a few others. I guess they want into the WRX, STI, SI group... which are all almost sedans.

too bad.

I like it and might purchase one... with the exception that a some small turbo kit will be able to fit on the car without too many issues.

I was holding out for them to say that that the new coupe was going to be a Euro ST, but I knew better than that.

Honestly, I actually like most of the elements and I'll probably try to get one ordered this summer (after I get a little seat time in an 08). I'm not super keen on the roof spoiler. If they're going to do something like that, we need an outrageous Escort Cossie RS rear spoiler.

The wheels are hot and the front end is much improved, although the foglight's kind of look like an afterthought with the rest of the bumper.

Seems a bit strange to me that some people are expecting a total change, from powerplant, turbo, 6-speed, AWD, new sheetmetal, all in one year??? This, while Ford is also restructuring in order to absorb a global platform?

I don't believe it's generally understood what degree of labor is involved in making just the changes that are seen here. I think it's a nice refresh and a step that proves they are listening, and I like it. Sure, it's not the Euro Focus...yet, but cut them a little slack. Those who are working with this platform were probably not even present on the project when the 08 was first designed, so they are trying to implement changes that will strike an even balance between enthusiast and average consumer.

Turbo? AWD? And I suppose you want that for $17K right?

Sorry, but it just reminds me of those who posted in my thread when I got the MKV GTI that stated $22K was too much to pay for a turbo hatch.

Wow, I love how so many of the always-pessimistic people are ****ting all over this thread and making us all look bad to anyone reading the thread with "clout"

Guys, so many of you have bitched since day one about various aspects of the '08, which most of which (within reason) are now changed in what I feel to be a very short amount of time with this '09 refresh. I hated the '08 just as much as many of you and still don't like it, but I LOVE how the '09 coupe looks, especially lowered with some tint and an SVT lip, all done in white of course. Matter of fact, j20000, what kind of deal could your dad get me on said '09 once they come out?

Same thing was going through my head. I don't understand what so many people are ranting about. This was just a quick, second year tweaking of the style, which the car desperately needed. It's a definite improvement, but obviously we weren't getting the new Focus yet. I agree with what others have said: I think it's a good sign that Ford was listening, and made some subtle changes to make the car look much better.

The only thing I hate is people calling it a Mk1.75. As far as I'm concerned, the '05-'07 was still a Mk1, and '08 is the Mk1.5.
