If this is as cool as I hope it will be, it could just be my next car.

I'm also looking forward to this. For some reason, a 2009 refresh was not even in my thought pattern. I'm definitely stoked to see what Ford has to offer and I'm super excited that they're revealing it at FocusSport. That gives me the impression that they're keeping the enthusiasts in mind.

Ford need to bring back the 3 door and trash the American styling inside and out. I have a feeling the 09 will be just as disappointing as the current car.

From one Nick to another, I humbly disagree. I am surprised that a complete redesign would come out as an 09 so obviously its probably not going to be 'very' substantial change; however I don't think the unveiling of a performance version with the D23 is out of question at all.

When do the 09s start production?

Why not the new Duratec 2.5 with direct injection? It appears to me that the 2.5 will replace the 2.3.

well they are selling well, but WRX's also sold well, but that did not subi from doing an emergency re-design. This is the same thing, the car is selling well, but not because of it's looks, it's inspite of them.

The thing that i don't like about the 2009 refresh is it proves we will have this car at least 2-3 more model years. I wish all fords efforts were on the next gen asap, but if they cant get the next gen in 2 years i understand the need for this.

Not necessarly so. Ford might be trying to get the Kinetic stuff here faster, and making the car more attractive helps thier bottom line now.

IMO it would be better to have a sharp looking MK1.75 that helps sales now, then to rush out a 1/2 baked MKIII w/ all sorts of problems.

Too bad I am stuck on the other side of the country, otherwise, I would be there. If FS was previewing a special FocusSport tuned Fiesta, I would buy an airline ticket right now!

From all accounts it looks like we'll have an all new Focus in MY 2011, which is CY 2010

If they were to listen the suggestions of the FocalJet majority (aka: mob mentality) they would be selling a Ford Focus ST225. You know how many FocalJetters would actually buy said car? Probably just as many that are going to buy a 2008 American Ford Focus.

The side profile of the '08 has plenty of potential.

I'm really curious to see what they come up with.

In fact, I'm bummed that I'll be unable to attend the event, because I'd go in a heartbeat.

It's the day before my birthday...anyone wanna fly me out there? lol. Can't wait to see what they come up with, I'm trying to convince my girlfriend to go with a new focus and if the 09 is even better than the 08 (working out the aesthetic kinks, one of my only issues with it) then that might help convince her.

Are you guys serious? Mine's the 18th too. If I didn't have to work this would be a lovely birthday trip for me.

If they make a two door coupe, I may be more willing to come back to Ford and sell of the tC.

Congratulations to FS for squeezing their way into Ford's hands!

It's absolutely crazy the FS is communicating with Ford and possibly working with them on this. A turbocharged focus would be awesome but I won't hold my breath. Although on the subject of wishful thinking, if this next focus looks like this and is turbocharged, I will definitely be buying one no matter how broke I am haha.

Yea, about a turbo Focus being revealed on 5-17-08, you can count that out. Just a heads up for those wondering.

We hope to see as many of you as possible. Please let us know if you'll be attending in the thread here:

The 08 already comes in a 2 door coupe, so surely the 09 would as well. I can't wait to see what the 09 looks like.
