US Spec B299 final production cars are being tested right now. 50 were built here and shipped tot he US. It will be way sooner than MY2011.

Either way, looks like i got about another 3 years with the miata before I have to make a decision

The ST is 1500 Euro cheaper than GTi in europe, so the ST sould easily be cheaper than the GTi here. Probably about $1500.

Deal!

Ford said to start saving, well they will have one buyer (assuming the exterior isn't extremely bastardized)

Ok, now I can see my self buying one. But I still would love to see a lowered stance with a 2.3l. An ST would be easy to make with all the spare stuff from ford racing. I don`t ask for much, but at least focus sport knows their stuff and a turbo 2.0l seemed like a nice little car.

Do you guys at focus sport are looking at offering 2.3l engine swaps for the power hungry like me? I love the stuff on the tuner challenge focus and with the new improved look of the focus 2009 I think I`ll be buying one next year. Nice work guys.

Do you guys at F.S. are going to offer a complete front-rear brake kit?

Everyone needs to buy a new astra (sell it back the next day)
I need to dig up the sales numbers some time, but GM isn't spending a lot on advertising and isn't pushing the Astra right now and I doubt they're selling in big numbers. They said they weren't going to make money on the car and that was before the dollar-to-Euro exchange rates slid even further. It wouldn't surprise me if due to that they intentionally aren't pushing the sales harder with regional/national level advertising campaigns (which isn't much besides a couple billboards here in SoCal) because they mostly just want a car to fill the entry level, establish a better reputation, and are waiting until the redesign in the next year or two when they move production to the US (car will still be nearly identical to the Euro Astra's) to really start pushing the car.

If your current Focus is paid off right now and you start putting money in an account with the best interest you can find, by the time the ST does get here (if it's actually coming) you could have a pretty nice down payment saved up. Everyone who can should start saving and we could have a thread to see how everyone's ST funds are going.

Better yet, take 3 grand or so, and invest it in BP or some other oil company. By the time it does get here, you can pay cash for it!

Well, I'm HOPING that Ford will tool-up for some of the NA production to happen here in NA, and that may assist in the failing dollar VS Euro situation. The GTI is still produced in Germany, but shipped here, and I was told that Volkswagen is making VERY little profit per unit sold in order to keep consumer costs down, and make it up in volume.

I can't see the logic of producing a European built B-seg, that will help support a European built Focus, only to have both platforms support the Euro dollar with weak American dollars.

Remember, it's supposed to be a global platform, NOT a Euro platform merely shipped to the states.

If I remember correctly the Ford platform (C1) is being used in the Volvo C30.
Which I wouldn't doubt if we imported them all.
You may be able to buy the Volvo and convert it to a Euro Focus. I still enjoy my first gen Focus and maybe I'll buy the new "Escort" when I am done with it.

It wouldn't surprise me to see NA built foci shipped to Europe in the not too distant future.

AdvanceTrac finally returns!! Now all they need is to make a hatchback with rear disc brakes and it will be as good a car as my 2002 ZX3. I paid 17,600 for my ZX3 back in 2002. A new Mazda 3 touring can be had for 20,600 equipped like my Focus was, a stripped 2.0 4 door goes for 14,600, and the 2.3 turbo goes for 23,000 and so does the C30. If Ford wanted to they could sell a second generation Focus here for the same amount. Then they would have a good looking hatchback on the new frame rather than the ugly Mazda and Volvo hatchbacks. Of course my 2002 has just as ugly a hatchback as the Mazda and Volvo. That is why I had to put a 3 piece spoiler on it to hide the ugly lines. Of course they could just stay with the lighter first generation frame. If they made a hatchback on the 2009 like the last Mustang and EXP hatchbacks, or even better like the last Capri and LN7 hatchbacks, I would buy one to replace my 2002. Another good idea is to put a hybrid drivetrain in one. Then I would buy two.

I've heard the end of 2009 for the Fiesta and April 2010 for the new Focus...

If they were to listen the suggestions of the FocalJet majority (aka: mob mentality) they would be selling a Ford Focus ST225. You know how many FocalJetters would actually buy said car? Probably just as many that are going to buy a 2008 American Ford Focus.

I think Job 1 was this week. My dealer expects them in a few weeks. I'm just waiting to see what kind of financing rates are on the car.

FYI: I was cruising BON and read the 09 Owner's Manual is now on the Ford Fleet website. I see rear headrests...just like my 02.

^ I hope they can be retro-fited onto the 08. Looking through the rear windows on the 08's, the cars look like they are missing somthing.
