Kia Soul coming to the U.S. next year

Reports are that Kia will bring the Soul to America next March.



The car is FWD and sports a 2.0L.

I'm not particularly fond of small cars guised as pseudo-SUVs, and the style of the Soul is no exception, but if it provides an alternative to the giant lumps some people like to use as commuters then I cannot complain. Fuel is finally reaching the price point that small and efficient vehicles are appealing to the masses so I'm all for any option that can be brought to the States. My next wish, better mass transit in the US or at least California.

Also, it's difficult to tell the scale of the car from the pic, but it's smaller than an xB. It's not much bigger than a Fit.

I dunno why Kia insists on putting black body trim on their US bound cars. The original version with painted trim looked MUCH better.

Also, the above shot is not specifically a "U.S. bound" car, it's the European version AFAIK.

The shot of the white car in the initial post is the "concept".

Wow, that thing just looks econobox heaven from that production picture I'm not feeling it at ALL; looks like the Koreans are taking a page out of their Chinese brothers' handbook and want to mimic other successful cars too closely

Agreed. I hope it is around the size of the old xB. While nice, the new one is really big.

I think the white car is a production car with painted body parts.
