I like Michael's list and the idea of putting back the things (tilt-telescope, Grab handles, etc) that have been dropped over the years.

But there is one thing that no one has addressed yet. I love the 60/40 split rear seat back in my sedan but not having the seat bottom as a 60/40 split is/was very stupid!!

Oh, I hear a lot about the odd lug patter, and a wish for 4X100, BUT don't forget, the next gen may be a 5 lug pattern! Anyone know the pattern they are using in Europe?

I'm easy to please....

4 wheel disc brakes
Trunk release button inside
(I know that you said that it has to be a 2.0L, but I'd like a 2.3 option on the SES)
Auto down and up for all windows

My guess is the 5x114.3 that the C1-platform-sharing Mazda3 uses, but I don't know for sure...

BETTER LUG NUTS would be a GREAT Idea.
I can't tell you how many lug nuts I've had go to crap.
Both poor threads AND crappy "caps" that fall off.
Give me some Nice SOLID lug nuts with better than Chinese threads.

go buy some.

I'll play...

- Standard 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS standard on higher models
- Dome light or some better lighting for the rear seats
- Rear seat back fold down button INSIDE THE CABIN not the trunk! The trunk one is nearly impossible to use.
- Available audiophile package
- Available HUGE sunroof... a la mini cooper
- Tilt / telescopic steering wheel standard
- Intermittent wipers standard
- Alloy wheels standard on higher models... SE+ models should come with alloys
- Radio antenna integrated into rear or side window
- Seats with adjustable lumbar support
- Ditch the electronic throttle!!

But the big gripe is the lack of 4 wheel discs. I mean, come on. Is it really THAT much more money to go to a disc brake setup for the rear wheels? I understand its not totally necessary and the car can stop fine without discs on the back, but I think to compete with the rest of the cars today discs are necessary.... drums look outdated and out of place anymore.

Rp, you are usually vocal about what you want to see in the Focus, what would you want to see, and at what trim levels?

dont really care anymore, I will need a new car before the C2 focus is out, and the Audi A3 is my top pic. 5 door hatch, 200hp, and lots of nice options. The "verve" was basically the fiesta, and they did not officaly show the US Fiesta yet so i said "verve."

I don't see the Fiesta verve being a nich car even if it does go a little up-market along with the focus. The bigges sales gains for has had was in the TOP trim level of the focus. People are downsizing cars ALLOT in size in price, but they are still willing to pay for the options. The US and EU car markets are probabally going to align VERY fast in the next few years. C class cars will be the new family cars, B will be the new single, and A class cars will be the "cheep" cars.

go to a ford EU website, copy, past trim levels and features and that IMO is what the US line up should look like.

Default Re: 2010 Production Focus, what do you want to see?

For the 2011 focus Is would like to see:

base 1.8l 125hp engine as the base, 30/37MPG
optional 2.5l 180hp I4 with a LSD 25/32 mpg

EcoNetic 1.3l I3 direct injection Eco boost turbo 150hp 35/45mpg

Going forward Fuel Economy is everything.

We will have less powerful cars, with much better economy.

the US will turn into Europe. C-cars will be mainstream in 5 years.

As for trim levels.

The EcoNetic line would be a opportunity to market Affordable green technology as a brand.

the entire lineup will move up market.

AWD will not be needed hurts economy too much. C2 should be AWD capable.
