Default More info on f1 flywheel energy recovery

Hope to see some of this formula 1 technology filter down to road cars:

Looks like a very efficient system. Hopefully it works out well for F1 teams to make competition tighter yet. But if it does work as they say it does, i cant see any other teams running a regular battery hybrid.

And yes, if they incorporate this into road vehicles it will be really cool.

That was a great article!

I knew this was going to be one of the rule changes for next season, and at first I wasn't too sure... thinking all the F1 cars were going to be Prius's.

I like the engineering behind that "Flybrid" technology. No batteries, less weight, and higher efficiency, and it still has the potential to be applied to everyday vehicles.

My issue with Hybrids are the batteries, the wieght, manufacturing process, eventual (expensive) replacement/disposal, etc... an entirely mechanical/kinetic systems just makes more sense.

Very cool!!!! the only question I have is what are th parasitic losses of driving that system? when charging? Probably nothing like battery hybrids but still curious!

Either way, very very cool tech!
