That's what I was thinking too, but I wasn't entirely sure and didn't wanna say something false

Why not? Even with mods you can keep your waranty going on anything the mods don't affect. Obviously engine mods can lead to reduced reliability, but if installed right and it's not beaten on, the car can remain very reliable. Simple mods like intakes and exhaust have no effect on anything really. Visual mods like a body kit and audio mods affect nothing either. So go ahead and mod the car. Chances are the only thing you'll end up having to fix in the life of the car will be wear parts which aren't covered anyways. And your comment about a car being too old to mod is just silly. I would love to find a 1986 Fox and modify the crap out of it. I'd actually probably enjoy it more than I enjoy the Focus or any new car. Old cars are good fun to play with, in most cases, a decade or more after thier release the aftermarket parts start getting pretty cheap (unless you're restoring some thing pre 1970) I did some looking and all the parts I need to turn a VW Fox into a 1.8T monster that could outrun a Mustang GT would run me less than what the parts on my slow as balls Focus with flappy scissor doors cost, and when I wasn't at the track destroying muscle cars, I'd be getting 35mpg+ in my little 2100lb car... good times!

JKJKJK! Seriously, right now is when value for used high fuel efficiency little four bangers is at its peak. Just throw on some suspension mods and lightweight buckets or something to spice things up. That doesn't hurt your warranty and is easy to slap the stock stuff back on before bringing it in if you are worried. ![]()

I agree with Ducman, suspension and some super supportive seats are as much fun as engine mods. Maybe I'm just super stoked that my other seat should be coming tomorrow after being backordered for 2 months!
Don't be jealous of other folks cars. The thing is that we seldom see the amount of effort and money that it requires to have a spectatcular vehicle. I've long ago given up on having the nicest car. My car is now devoid of interior, it rattles and vibrates over every bump, smells funny and has numerous quirks. However, its decently quick, gets great gas mileage for what's been done and how its driven, and has so far proven to be extremely reliable and low-maintence (knock on wood). I haven't posted pictures of it for several months, because its not much of a looker, and its owner has a lousy eye for photography...however, the fact that no one has seen recent pictures of it on the internet doesn't matter to me when I plop in behind the wheel.

If you are modding your car to compete with other people you'll never be happy. Do it for yourself.

I'm 99.99999% sure that you are not actually reading anyone else's replies on this. Are you a pronbot? ASL?

Get a Lebaron. Raise it up and put some 32" wheels on it. You will stand out in no time.

If you are tired of your focus because other kids have nicer cars, you will never be happy. Kids around here have M3's, S4's, M-B's, and about anything else there parents buy them. Most of them just got their new toys as graduation gifts a few weeks ago, so they are out in force right now. If you are looking for a car to make you feel superior to others, you have more issues than can be fixed with parts.
Somebody somewhere will always have the hotter significant other, a faster car, more money, a bigger house, higher paying job, play sports better than you do. It is just a fact of life, and a modded Focus or anything else won't change it. Don't blame your poor car.

Sounds to me like nothing is going to make you happy. Whatever you have, somebody else will have something better. You have way more stuff done to your car than I do, but I am very happy with my car. Maybe instead of dumping a bunch of useless money into your car, spend a couple hundred bucks on a NASA track day. Actually try to enjoy some time in your car. I had just as much fun when my car was stock as I do now. It's just more expensive ![]()

In some regards, I have the most fun with my near stock SVT Focus rather than my heavily modified ZX3 (when I owned it) or my nothing-stock Mustang. So far, my extreamly modified Mustang has not driven more than 10 miles all year. So many parts needing tuning, I spend all my weekends working on it and never driving it. I have 4 Saturday's invensted in just trying to bumpsteer the damn thing, which the vast majority of "kidz" don't even understand what that is. More parts, the more tuning, the less time you spend driving it and having fun with it. This current "pimp-my-ride" generation thinks that a bunch of parts makes a nice car. I have invested more money in parts in the last year on my Mustang than I spent buying my ZX3 brand new in 2000.
If you want my opinion, keep your car and go autocross it. You will find that you will enjoy your car more if you do something with it.

why does it need all of that stuff? I think you have been watching MTV too much. Why racing seats? Are you planning on racing it? I have Kevlar RaceTech seat in my Mustang, with a roll cage, and 5-point harnesses. Not something you want on the street, and in fact, it is not leagle. Racing seats (non reclining) should be used with a 4-point roll bar, which is a no-no for a street car. Why a CF hood? Any weight savings would be negated from the stereo stuff. Coilovers? Why? Are you planning on corner weighing the car for balance? I run coil-overs on my Mustang because I will corner weigh it and adjust. Also, I have moved so many items around to balance the car, conventional springs were not keeping the car level. Also, I can increase the wheel rate with coilovers and tune the wheel rates better vs a conventional spring. Coilovers on a focus don't effect the motion ratio, so it is a little different than on my Mustang. What dampers are you planning on running? You understand that increasing the spring rate requires an increase in damping? Also, lowering the car too much throws off the handling as it changes the roll centers. Suspension tuning and development is not as easy as ordering a bunch of parts and calling it done.
My point is that throwing "race" parts on your street car will only get you farther away from all the engineers at Ford worked hard at. I would add the SVT Suspension (complete) and leave it alone.

i only wanna lower about 1.5, the carbon fiber hood would be for the look. racing seats i don't know i don't really need them, again for the look. seems like everybody else on here was using coil overs, to be honest i was just gonna add the springs and thats it. i don't understand none of that damping stuff u are talking about.
