Not much into autocross?
Have you ever been to one or driven in one?

How can you say your "not much into autocross" when you have never tried it?
The Central PA SCCA region holds their autocrosses in Phillipsburg, PA, about an hour and 45 minutes away from you: http://www.scca-cpr.org/cms/ http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...59&ie=UTF8&z=9 Your other option is the Susquehanna Region and they hold their autocrosses in Hershey, PA, about......an hour and 45 minutes away as well: http://www.scca-susq.com/index.html http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...56&ie=UTF8&z=9 Third option is the Washington DC Region. Their autocrosses are at the FedEx Field in Landover, MD about 2 hours 20 minutes away from you: http://www.wdcr-scca.org/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...83,3.90564&z=8 sometimes you have to drive a little bit for some fun....

You need to resize the pic in Post #46 to no larger than 800 X 600.
And go physically check out an autocross. Or not. Whatever. Whiner.

There's a chance of you tripping over a curb while going into WalMart and busting your head open, but that doesn't stop you from walking. ![]() There danger is low since you are driving a course in a parking lot around cones. The worst most people do is spin out and hit a cone or two. A scuff mark from a cone here and there, but that's it.

exactly jason. you could walk out your front door and get hit by a out of control truck or car and die right there. but hey. life is full of chances. take a chance and auto-x. you will get addicted to it faster then you think.
i remember your car ted. if you took some time to research how to those simple mods. it would really clean your car up alot.

Where do I find autocross in my area? I live in Southern Maryland and I would love to go to one.

you can search for events on www.myautoevents.com or thru www.SCCA.org and then by region. I think NASA is starting some sort of solo events as well, but there is nothing around here from either SCCA or NASA.
Concerning the post about SVT-horsepower. On my ZX3, I had Crower cams, off road 4-2-1 header, AEM CAI, 65mm TB, Vibrant exhaust with larger flex pipe, ACT clutch, Steeda shifter, Koni dampers, Progress sway bars and springs, Brembo replacement rotors, EBC pads, half gutted interior, and lighter weight Corbeau seats. At GingerMan raceway (2 mile, 11-turn road course) my ZX3 ran consistantly 2 seconds faster than my SVT. I had both cars out at the track at the same time, and the ZX3 was clearly faster coming out of the corners. The SVT would brake much later due to its vastly better binders, but it wasn't enough to catch my ZX3. My brother and I took turns in each car, with the same results. When I had him run my ZX3 and I sat at the end of the front straight to watch him, I was able to see the front rotors glowing red-orange going into to turn 1. With a few modifications, a ZX3 can be made to be quicker than a SVT. However, the modifications to the ZX3 made the car unpleasent for street use and kind of quirky depending on weather conditions. The SVT is better suited for everyday driving and track use.
