Ford's U.K. division is set to debut its Fiesta ECOnetic compact car at London Motor Show this July that can achieve an amazing 70 mpg, according to a report by Autocar.
Sources close to the automaker claim that the ultra-efficient car achieves an amazing 100 g/km, which in U.S. cycle is calculated to be roughly 70 mpg. The Fiesta ECOnetic hatchback weighs 50 kg (110 pounds) less than the previous model and will be powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine.
The ECOnetic will be fully constructed at Ford's wind powered plant in Dagenham, Britain. With plans to globalize the Fiesta model starting as early as next year, it is still unclear whether Mulally and company will bring a version of the fuel-sipping hatchback our way in 2011, considering the even higher price for diesel stateside.

It runs on 87octane, so 55mpg x 20% = 66mpg diesel equivalent! Bump your tire pressure and put cruise control on 65mph, and peeps get 60mpg with the new dual-sparkplug per head design. 60mpg x 20% = 72 diesel equiv MPG!
