Power to weight is still power to weight. It matters not what TV you watched it on.

The ZR-1 is a POS compared to the Porsche
The Corvette of the last few years are not PsOS. They have become a force to be reckoned with, and I'm a Ford guy. Porsche will always manufacture their flagship sports cars to the highest standards, yes, but the Corvette has been developed into a winning marque too.

The latest Z06 will have the measure of almost any road car costing over twice as much; the ZR-1 even more so.

I don't watch it on TV and I know exactly what power to weight is, I have several trophies that prove that exact point. There are alot of people that stilll cannot figure out how a 130hp Focus whipped their butts. Pirelli had a great commercial out here that said "power is nothing without control"

Yes there is a couple of small races around the world that Corvettes enter and do rather well in, little small club races like Sebring, Daytona and the smallest of them all, LeMans. LeMans is in France so no one really cares about it. Corvettes has been unsuccessful since like what the 1960's?

Oh and ask any suspension engineer that has worked on a car that was set for th eRing and they will tell you that the Ring is all about suspension. It is the #1 reason it was designed they was it is. The main reason companies bring their cars there, suspension and traction control testing. I would give you some references to ask but I am not allowed to give out their names. One worked on the C170 Focus, suspension/steering to be exact.

Fine. I have a feeling you would know that better than I.

But the huge weight difference, and the fact that one was race prepped and one is USDOT street legal cannot be ignored.

Please admit that James.

So what is your view of the Skyline being beat by the Vette, it was on race tires?

You are not seeing my point. I give a rats butt about the ZR-1 I am commenting on a 25 year old record that has nothing to do with a Corvette ZR-1, two totally different subject tied together by one common thing, Nuerburgring.

and with that I have finished my second beer and now off to bed. Bis morgan!

Are you actually trying to compare a Porsche 956 to a ZR-1.

Wow that's stupid, why not compare it to a MP4-23 while you're at it.

But weren't you the one that initially brought up the fact that the ZR1 didn't set a 'Ring record?

Yes because it does not hold the all time Ring record, it puts in perspective what a fast lap is. Kind of like what Top Gear does but on a smaller scale. Personally I would like to see the same driver in a Mosler take a stab at it. Also look at the ZakSpeed Viper race car and see what times they are laying down and that is a race car.

Bring the same car with todays technology and I am sure you will see a 6 min flat or just under that.

Put airbags, today's standards for safety, a full interior with leather all over the place, a finished hatch, run flat tires, emmisions systems, climate controls, a full audio system, sound deadening, etc... and I bet that Porsche would not be so impressive. By your logic every car ever made sucks because a race car can outrun it.

That's just it, and what you seem to not want to understand, the Porsche is a race car, made to go around a track then be torn down and rebuilt. The Corvette is a production car, made to drive down a crappy road, a crappy freeway, or a crappy highway semi-comfortably. It's also has to protect it's passengers without a roll cage or race harness, must meet emmission standards of today, and survive the duration of it's warranty. The fact that it does both isn't something to be scoffed at.

I'd say that the all time record could easily be broken if someone wanted to do it. Ever heard of formula 1? I am pretty sure that no vehicle in the world could (now or ever previously) hold a candle to what they could do today. The record still stands because no one gives a ****.

Actually BMW F1 took a shot at it this spring I think it was but could not do it. I will have to look and see who it was.

Ah it is too late and my beer buzz is wearing off. I will look for it when I get home tomorrow.

jinstall, wtf? seriously wtf? you come in here talking about a 25 year old record. then talk about how cars are set up suspension wise just for the ring. yes the 956 did it faster it was set up for the ring, it did have half the weight, and same horsepower. the ZR-1 did set a record no one said it was the all time record. it was the record for a production car. what do you fail to see about that? calling us dense? maybe your just that drunk off your 2 beers.

further more i dont appreciate your elitist bs. saying i cant comment cuz i never driven the ring. omg you have heres a f'ing e cookie. now go talk to some one who gives 2 craps.

you always think you are right and cant see other points of view no matter what. i have noticed this in numerous threads.

one more thing. you're the one that started this thread. so it was your choice of words for the subject. then came in later to bash.

No, seems to me you're the only person sharing your point of view. Nobody on here was comparing race cars until you popped into the thread and puked up your "vast knowledge" ZR1 holds the production car record, end of story (until it gets beaten)

Try not to get so wound up over it okay? Maybe cut back on the drinking too, seems every post in here you just drank a couple, maybe you should see someone about it?

Yep, I spy a direct correlation to an increase in drinks consumed by jinstall with his inability to admit that he read something wrong and just let it go

sadly i doubt its the drinks. i think thats just him all the time. look at other threads he jumped in on and spoke as fact. no matter what people said he was right and everyone else is stupid or as he likes to say dense, but might as well call everyone stupid, since that what he is saying.
