That thing is a beast, no doubt about it.
![]() A shame they went with a supercharger (albiet a pretty impressive one), though to be honest our chances of seeing a factory turbo 'Vette are probably slim to none. I'm curious to see what a well-designed turbo setup would do on a ZR-1.

Bone stock on the very heavily modified Corvette that is the ZR1, heh. Street tires and suspension settings though, thats the biggie.
![]() I think when you get to this insane level of performance, you can't even really say the ZR-1 set a record, its their engineer Jim Mero who deserves the props for the time. The car we can just declare "capable of being extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely fast!!!!" Cool to hear that GM has engineers that also happen to be race car drivers! If you gave the ZR1 to fifty different drivers though, you'd end up with fifty different times... some records, some not. Any of us here on the forum would likely suck in it, as it so far exceeds our skill levels! Still, I bet magazine racers will find some other time two months from now that is .2 seconds faster with some other driver, and declare it the ueber winner.

i dont think they have released a price yet. i would assume it would be more than a gtr. considering the zo6 is almost there.

The ZR-1 should be compared to a 300Z. When the V-spec has an official time, it'll be compared with the ZR1. So far its unofficial time is a second faster, though it had a professional driver behind the wheel, not an engineer (granted, the guy is probably a great driver).

well the best comparison would be to get the zr1 and vspec at the ring the same day and same driver.

Wonder if the engineer who was driving the ZR-1 was John Heinricy?
That changes the significance of things as he's a professional race-car driver in addition to being an engineer. |

Just sayin.
![]() Rofl @ Matt, all buzzed and stuff... ![]() I just spoke with a man who has covered the Corvette effort at Le Mans the past few years for Corvette Quarterly as a freelance journalist. I figured HE'd know whoTF Mero is. He doesn't! LOL. How's that for anonymity? Well, he used to be anonymous, that formerly-obscure GM development engineer.

From what Ive read, the GT-R V-Spec is being tweaked to beat the ZR1...at which point the new NSX will be tweaked to beat them both =D

that's not a pro driver, either. he's just an engineer with nerves of steel. he'd outdrive most of us but sabine would leave him in the dust.
