Checking your Driver Record for Free? - Focaljet

I've found the form and stuff where you can order your driving record from the DMV, but its $30. $30? To get some information off a database that should be public record?

You're ****ting me right?

Is there a FREE way to get a copy of my driving record? Do insurance agencies really pay $30 each time someone even THINKS of applying for car insurance? Bull****.

You can go to your local DMV and get one for ~3 bucks.

So I let my car insurance lapse by three days, shopping around I didn't see much better rates, so I called my insurance company back and said I'll renew.

$200 more per 6 months... I'm like wait what???

They said "well, you had a lapse in your insurance"... and so I'm all "yeah, a couple days and I was with you guys". Sorry, nothing we can do.

I've had American Family for about 20 years and have had a few short lapses and they never jacked my rates for it.

That blows. I went like 4 months one time without insurance (didn't pay the bill.. oops), but my rate wasn't higher.

Geico btw, but I'm glad as I got lower quotes from State Farm and Amico.

$705 a year for the Vette full coverage.

Ohio does it for free on the website...while it's not "official" which is probably what you need, it's accurate up to like 6months I think.

You can go down to the dmv and they can read it off to you for free. If you do a print out then it costs you money, I paid $5.00 for it last time I needed a print out.
