Default X Plan for Stock Holders?

    Anyone ever heard of this?

I found this info on a Ford Fusion web site that I go to:

Owners of Ford stock are also entitled to 2 X-Plan PINS a year. No minimum number of shares required (1 share and you qualify) So, if you own Ford stock, you simply need to contact Ford Shareholder Relations and ask them for the "Ford Shareholder X-Plan PIN Request Form". They are very helpful and will mail it, E-mail it, fax it etc.

If you do not currently own Ford stock, this is what you can do: If you have an Online Brokerage Account, you can purchase a share of Ford stock for a minimal cost. Some of the Online Discount Brokerages allow you to perform stock purchase for as little as $5-$10. So for about $7-$12, you can own a share of Ford stock and qualify for up to 2 X-Plan PINS per year.

Once you have purchased, simply contact Ford Shareholder Services and request a copy of the PIN Request Form. Follow the instructions, and voila, you will have an X-Plan PIN.

    Hope this information helps.
I've never heard of it but being an owner of Ford Stock, it sounds like a nice perk for supporting a company you believe in.

    Yea, thats very cool.

I wonder if any other companies do stuff like that...doubtful though. May be worth checking into.

Your SCCA membership gets you 1 VW pin per year. Mazdaspeed membership gets you lots of Mazda pins (not sure if they can be applied to other Ford family vehicles or not).

We used our Ford shares to buy our Escape Hybrid on X-plan last summer. It was really fast and easy.

As for Mazda, Ford and Mazda can no longer share discount plans because of Ford's stock divestiture.

Well, I've done an internet search and it seems to be the real deal. If you own Ford stock you can get up to two pin numbers a year.

I was lamenting the loss of A plan but X plan isn't bad either and will keep me in the Ford family when the wife's lease is up in February next year.

I hate buying cars and going through the whole negotiating and haggling process and the A-Z plan cuts through all that crap.

I guess the only downside is you have to own Ford stock

(Seriously, Ford is in the best position of the Big 3, but it's still taken a beating if you bought it a while ago)

That one share of stock is going for $2 right now (plus whatever fees to buy it). Suck it up, you'll save more than that (plus fees) on your next Ford.

I bought low so I'm fine. Bought in for 1,000 and it's well worth it to me since I'm still a big fan of the Blue Oval, especially in light of there most recent offering, and those yet to come.

Ford X Plan = 4 percent over Ford employee price.

The X plan price is a price that is lower than the MSRP and is lower than the dealer invoice.

An X-plan sale is also entitled to any special offers/rebates in addition to the invoice price. X-plan can also be extended to family members.

Correct, except when you obtain X plan as a benefit of owning stock. The X plan is specifically granted to only the stock owner and isn't transferable to family or friends.

The X-plan can only be used for a vehicle on a lot, no orders/swapping from dealer to dealer.

That's not true. You can order with X-Plan but it is at the dealer's discretion. Some dealers will only sell cars on the lot for X-plan while others will let you order at X-plan.

Very true, when I special ordered my SVT Focus back before they were released I used X-Plan and the dealer had no problem with it. So serial #131 was bought on X-Plan.

Only problem with X-Plan now is that you can probably get well below X-Plan right now without a PIN anyway.

Looks like I need to for sure buy some Ford stock before I purchase my Fiesta then. I've been contemplating buying 100 or so shares of Ford stock (what is the minimum to buy?) for a few months now because I have confidence that the company will improve in the next few years, and this would just be icing on the cake. Given the state of the economy right now though, is it possible to just haggle a price every bit as good as X-plan?

Its always been possible to get a better deal than x-plan haggling. I bought my focus for less than x-plan in 2005 just haggling. My father has also bought many Fords for less than x-plan haggling. The nice thing about x-plan is its easy and they cannot put any fees anywhere.

Yup, thats why I used X-Plan when the SVT came out. Many dealers were asking above retail even the one I bought from. But they allowed me to purchase mine using X-Plan without needing to haggle. Otherwise with any other car I wouldn't have bothered.

X-Plan isn't that great of a deal, to be honest. Unless you're buying a Mustang or some other "in-demand" vehicle.

Otherwise, you can usually negotiate a better price than X-Plan.

Especially given the "Employee Pricing Plus" that they're offering....
