612 ft-lbs of torque from a 4 cylinder engine sucks to you? Wow, what do you drive everyday, a rocket-ship?

Impressive dyno queen or not. I wonder if that's not the most HP our of an Evo yet.
Too bad those Subie boys can't do the same. Heard the flat 4 has trouble making really high HP numbers.

I could understand the joy from owning a 1000hp car but, where would a car like that be used? I just cant understand why someone would spend so much money for something with such limited use?
I might need to be enlightened on this but, could such a car even be driven in a controlled matter? How long would a motor with a 50psi turbo last on the track?

I see it as this, as much power as a fully modded Skyline GTR, but half the weight.

Let me just say that evos are freight trains. I dont much like the car in general but I worked on one that had the vac lines mixed up from a previous shop and the boost cut didnt hit untill 3 bar.
no complaints at all from the engine.

That's what I was gonna say!!! We've had fully built 800+hp, all Aluminum, 430CID, 15:1 compression, V8 race engines that only make 650tq....612tq out of a 4cyl is pretty impressive.

I got a ride in the EVO X below while it was having overboosting issues. One of the vac lines popped off and it was boosting to 32psi and cutting off at 4500rpm. Max psi should have been 19psi. That thing from 2000rpm to 4500rpm pulled like nothing I had ever felt before, pinning my head to the seat. I can only imagine what 49psi and 1000hp must feel like.....

I thought 1,000 HP four cylinders were the norm in F1 back in the mid '80s
