If I bought a CTS-V that is what I'd make it look like. Murdered out and pissed off is perfect for that car.

I've noticed Hocky seems to have a distaste for places that charge way too much money for the work they do. Some of the stuff a gearhead on this site would accomplish over the weekend, they'll charge thousands in labor to do in the same ammount of time.

We'll just say that a good friend of mine had the ultimate of bad experiences possible with them. Over 6 figures and 1.5 years flushed down the drain and never got to drive the car because they couldn't ever get it working right. Of course, none of this was their problem even though he bought them a new shop. heh

Aside from that, 550whp from that combo is lame.

its too bad he didn't do the work on that car. that car used to be owned by a guy out here in Phoenix who raced with NASA. He sold it last year to get into a prepped BMW. (unless there is another widebody blacked out CTS-V running around with the same hood and the same power figures) I'm pretty sure AMS just bought that car from the guy out here...

im right beside you on this. had a friend that they tried to **** over on parts, when he went up there to get his stuff they were complete jerks about the whole thing.

also i was expecting AT LEAST 700+ for that car the way it sounded. I was kinda let down by those numbers.

... what, is 540hp not enough?

It seems like it was built to be fairly reasonable. N/A.

maybe they just wanted to drive it without having to worry about the engine exploding while still making enough power to roast the tires through 4 gears?

You guys are nuts.

Oh, and the cars for sale for $37,000. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

You can overheat brakes. It's not very hard. Assuming the 500+ horsepower, why don't we also assume some sort of good race-compound pad (believable with the black wheels).

Before the clip, it's completely obvious that he slams on the brakes and then accelerates.

If you do a few stops from 100+mph, its not very hard at all to make a brake rotor glow. Go out and do it in your focus. Get up to 100 a few times and slam on your brakes and have your friend tape it.

The only brake issue that the thing ~would~ have would be a sticking caliper... which while one for a CTS-V is pricey, its not that hard of a fix.

... and yes, 500hp is enough. If you've driven a car with 500hp then you know it is. And if you haven't, then you don't know. I spun and M3 racecar with a little over 500hp on a private autocross course. I was going around a turn and eased it into 3rd and pressed on the gas... a little. The car spun like a top and did a full 360. It wasn't on R-Compounds, but it was on equally expensive Michelin Pilot PS2's.

...thats when i'd say you prolly would want to avoid stepping into the pedal in a turn when you know you have 500+ on tap.... thats when knowing your car and how it drives comes in handy....

500 isnt enough for the kind of money they have in that car... although it is a good looking car... and sounds very potent

Well, your right on the "knowing you car" point. I've driven and lapped in the guys other cars (Laguna Seca M3 with Motons, lexan, and the works : and his E30 with a 06 European M3 Engine), but hadn't had much wheel time in the E36 M3. One would have assumed that slow shifting all the way through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and then blipping the throttle maybe 30% wouldn't be enough to whip a car into such a spin, but it was a bad assumption.

also

A) you don't know what kind of money they have in that car. If they're selling it for $37k I doubt its a boatload.

B) Not everythings about power. The Speed World Challenge cars seem to do fine and they "only" have 425-500hp.

AMS is overpriced but they are a great group of guys...

I live like 10 minutes from them, they like taking customers out in their cars (no they wont let you drive a 1000+whp evo)

Of course not, it has a life span measured in minutes of run time.

And in that big heavy car, 500 horsepower ins't nearly enough. ;-)
