Default R.I.P. Shaun Carlson

My Industry friends on Facebook have posted that Shaun Carlson has passed away.

Shaun was the man behind Nuformz Customs, the guys who did the Meguiar's drag Focus back in the day, as well as some very insane customs (a fully body dropped hot pink and custom painted 4Runner, a crazy turbo Honda back before that was 'in', and of course all of his drifting stuff)

He recently had been having heart problems, due to a genetic defect of sorts - here's an old article related to that:

http://www.formulad.com/blog/2009/be...shaun-carlson/

I'll post more as I find out.

I met Shaun back in 1995 via my friend Courtney Halowell - they both worked for Mini Truckin' back then. Shaun was such a sweet guy. RIP Shaun

NOOOOOOOO! He was the coolest and the nicest person I've ever met.

Even when he dragged a neon, he still welcomed me and my focus friends in his trailer
when he came to the east coast

Nooo!!!

Man, we worked with Shaun with the Focus back in the day and took over the NuFormz Focus stuff that he was working on. Really sad to hear about this.

Rest in Peace brother.

That is very sad. I used to see pictures of him all the time in compact car magazines back in the day. I can't remember for sure, but I thought I saw him at the Import Nats back in 2000. Hard to remember that far back.

We had been working with him and NuFormz pretty closely over the last year or so. Sad...he was having a couple of small heart attacks each month, and was in and out of the hospital all the time. The last 12 months must have been such a trying time for him and his loved ones. My heart goes out to them for sure, and to Shaun...rest in peace man.

Man, I remember how cool it was when Shaun's Focus was made into a Hot Wheels car and was one of the early sought after Focus items back in the day.

He always seemed like a great guy when I'd see him at SEMA. What a tragedy.

I remember magazine articles way back in the day, and it shook the whole Sport Compact drag racing scene when he brought out the SRT-4. I wasn't in the scene when he was involved with the Focus, only when he went with Mopar, but he seemed like a great guy. RIP Shaun.

That's really sad to hear. I remember when he had to stop racing due to medical issues but didn't know it was ongoing and that bad. Seemed like a great guy and always willing to share information and help others where he could.

I've put a tribute to Shaun on the front page: http://www.focaljet.com/

It links back to here.

Kris, would you could pass this info along to his family with condolences from the entire Focaljet community?
