Just a quick note, Toyota have announced that Kobayashi or whatever his name was will be driving for Glock at this race after his great performance in Brazil. I think Glock is still healing from his injuries anyway.

EDIT: Got the name right...

Quote:
Toyota has announced that Kamui Kobayashi will race for the team at this weekend in Abu Dhabi. Kobayashi made his grand prix debut in Brazil, where he qualified 11th and finished ninth after a fighting performance.

He once again replaces Timo Glock, who suffered a cracked vertebra and cut leg in an accident during qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix earlier this month.

"We feel genuinely sorry for Timo that his season, which has included two impressive podium finishes, is ending in this way,” said team president John Howett. “Having discussed the medical advice with Timo and his management, the team has decided to take no risk and to put Kamui in the car.

“Kamui performed well in Brazil in difficult circumstances so we are happy to ask him to once again deputise."

Both Glock and team-mate Jarno Trulli do not have a contract to race with Toyota next season, while Kobayashi’s strong Brazilian performance has moved him into the reckoning for a race seat next season and points in Abu Dhabi.

"I am really looking forward to my second grand prix and I want to make the most of this unexpected chance,” said Kobayashi. “I didn't know the track in Brazil and that was a little bit of a disadvantage because almost all the other drivers had some experience of it.
But that's not the case in Abu Dhabi; this is a new track for everyone so that should help me.

“I am also more familiar with the car now, as well as other procedures during a race weekend like pit stops and the two tyre compounds, so I expect to be more competitive in Abu Dhabi,” the Japanese racer continued. “Of course it will be extremely difficult because the field is very strong and this is just my second grand prix but I will give my all."

Glock meanwhile will still make the journey to Abu Dhabi to continue negotiations with potential employers. Glock's manager, Hans Bernd Kamps, told SID that he thinks he could finalise a deal for next year within the next 14 days.

Top of the list will be the talks with Renault about becoming Robert Kubica's new team-mate, but it is also believed that Manor and Sauber are options. "We had five prospective teams, and we negotiate seriously with three," he said.

Woo hoo, go Tsunami!!!! I loved how he raced in Brazil. "Hi Jenson, I realize you're the championship leader. But this is a race, and I'm going to race you for this position. If you're faster, I'm sure you'll make the pass soon enough. But until then, this is mine and you're gonna have to earn it."

The championships may have been decided, but this battle is still up for grabs! At least I have reason to watch the race now, I'll be on the edge of my seat! See you in Abu Dhabi, Joe!

Should be an interesting race on this new track. From what I've seen, it's pretty big and wide-open. So, if someone gets a lead and cars get spaced out, it could just become a parade instead of a race.

Truth! He did very good in the televised second practice as well. I hope he get a permanent seat!

I have been out of the loop for a bit, but as this is the last race of the season...I would really like to see Jenson win as he hasn't for a long time. Also it is amazing to see how much Mercedes has improved since their dismal start to the season.

1. First Place (3pts) Hamilton (1)
2. Second Place (3pts) Button (22)
3. Third Place (3pts) Barrichello (23)
4. Fast Lap During the race (2pts) Hamilton (1)
5. Qualifying Pole Position (2pts) Hamilton (1)
6. Highest scoring secondary driver (2pts) Barrichello (23)
7. Highest lapped position (2pts) 13th

By my math, which as we all know isn't that great, here's how we finished up. I'm going to defer to the ones in charge of this for the tiebreaking procedures.

1. Rockefela.....................58+7 = 65
1. RallyRide......................53+12=65
3. thefrush.......................58+6 =64
4. EggYolk........................45+7 =52
5. azbobby.......................45+2 =47
6. ahrllc...........................46+0 =46
7. BRZX3R........................43+0 =43
7. 2xtreme........................41+2 =43
9. Reedicus26....................39+2 =41
10. hEaT..........................25+5 =30
11.sleeperfocus.................27+0 =27

Tie for the Championship with Rockefela and RallyRide, thefrush only ONE POINT back! EggYolk beat me for 4th, and I rounded out the top 5, jumping ahrllc because of his DNQ.

Great season, boys!

I don't know what the history is, but perhaps a good tie breaker would be looking back to see who chose the 1st place finisher the most times, similar to how Formula One would break a tie in the Driver's Championship with the number of race victories.

Kobayashi needs a good drive for 2010. I suspect Toyota will lock him up so hopefully they can be competitive next year.

From what I remember, last year when we had a tie at the end of the season we went by who had the most "Round Wins" for the tiebreaker.

HOLY COW! You gotta be kidding me! I think I almost had a heart attack during the last 10 laps with Button catching Webber! Hoping Button wouldn't be able to make the pass because I had him 3rd hehe.....

To think the whole race i was worrying about frushie and out of nowhere in the past few races there's RallyRide! Wooo!!

Off to work the spreadsheet and make sure it comes out with the same results. I honestly don't know how to do the tiebreaker, LocoFoci made up alot of the rules so maybe someone can contact him to give us the official ruling.

Also if anybody wants a copy of the final results spreadsheet please let me know for openness sakes....

Here is a post from LocoFoci from 2007 when we had a similar situation for 2nd place.

2. Tiebreaker rule:
a. In the event of a tie in the standings, the highest rank will be given to the person with the most challenge wins.
b. In the event of clause a. being insufficient, the person who gave the most accurate answer to the tiebreaker question will be declared the winner. See the tiebreaker question for details.
c. In the event of a tie at the end of Clause b. Challengers must battle it in a good ol' western shootout... inside an elevator... blindfolded... with shotguns.
d. Tiebreaker question is worth no points and is only applicable between the people in a tie.
So someone needs to go back through all the events and determine who won how many challenges. I would do it, but am a bit under the weather and am spending most of my time in bed.

Well round wins also doesn't decide it, I just went through the results and with RallyRide winning this last round we are tied with 2 round wins a piece!!!

Well, crap, then I don't know what to do next. We weren't prepared for a tie this year, that's kinda a "whoopsie" on all of our parts. Maybe we should just jump to the next thing Loco had in mind?
