Regardless of if she saw it or not when she pulled in ... she still got out of the car and went inside.
As for it being a chain reaction thing ... if there isn't room to park in a spot after some other douche screws up the flow ... then you don't park in a spot.

This chick has no excuse. Regardless of the color, she hit a stationary object with her vehicle. The only way she could justify not being able to see the bike or cover at all is if it were pitch black outside (no moonlight) and her headlights and parking lights were turned off...at which point she shouldn't be driving anyway.

trees and curbs are dark too.
You usually know when you hit those.

It's a parking spot. I don't care what the conditions are, if you don't check to be sure there is nothing occupying said area when you pull into it, you're an idiot and at total 100% fault if you hit something. Even more so if you're so drunk that you missed the spot you were going for.

Negligence is Negligence.
She got out of the car and saw how much space she took up so she is fully responsible. There was a person parked next to her, but that person was parked perfectly in the spot so the possibility of someone crowding the spaces is not possible. This was shear ignorance at its finest. That said, all she did was knock some of the plastic chrome off my exhaust tip, so IMO it's not worth going through insurance over, BUT.....it is enough for me to aggravate the absolute dog **** out of her. dave.

Wait, now getting hit in a parking lot while I'm upstairs asleep can raise MY insurance rates?

Don't know what it's like there but up here in BC, any collision in a parking lot unless there is undeniable proof that it was one persons fault, is considered to be 50/50. Which is complete BS.
I had to sue a guy and go through court to prove that it was his fault. He backed into me while I was in the store. He did a hit and run, I had 6 witnesses who saw it all happen and page me in the store. It was 6 months before getting into court and cost me 5 days off work total. But my rates stayed where they were.

Depends on the state really.
And the fact he was a parked car should stick quite well. I would really do it Dave, she needs to learn. and another hit on her record may just do it. There is a reason she does not have the other one fixed...

That really does suck. I would have been pissed too.
I just want to say though, I don't think the guy posting about using a different cover was trying to defend this ignoramus at all. I think he was just trying to think of some way to prevent it from happening again. Of course, that is likely impossible with a driver as bad as this.

Try wearing "Drunk Goggles" they give you a full "Sober" view of what its like to be intoxicated. To her she probably did park between the lines depending on how intoxicated she was.
