Default Inaugural ChumpCar World Series Race *56K = NO*

I attended the inaugural ChumpCar World Series Race in Portland (Portland International Raceway) on Saturday. Here are a few photos:

Yes, those were functional googly eyes ...

The Eh! Team

Check out that hockey stick spoiler

Just happened to be getting out of the rear hatch ...

Chia Bull

Gettin' sideways

Bad photo, great car ...

The googly eyed scirocco and the Audi S1 replica were my team. Squirrels of Fury. We had many mechanical issues (actually we won an award for them) but we were able to finish. 30th and 32nd out of 38 cars. Our goal was to finally finish a race and we did (third time's a charm). Could not be happier.

Cool!

Do you know who won? I believe it was "Git Miata here," but I'm not 100% sure.

FYI, posted the start of the race:

Nice pics, but I can't show any support for ChumpCar. Creator is a scumbag and idea-stealer.

That's the one! Then when that went south, I guess he decided to steal an idea from a guy that helped to try and save his other track. Nice guy!

Of course I was there.

I was Crew Chief for the #11 1984 Dodge Colt Turbo, Team Maximum Overdrive, themed after the movie.

This is our car we bought for $100 and it actually ran. After a lot of work we have a racecar.

Dyno tuned on PSI's dyno in Hillsboro, Running the stock 10psi with a 3in exhaust that I fabricated for it. 120whp (about 150hp crank), and its rated at 102hp at the flywheel, which is wierd cause only thing we did is put a bigger exhaust on it and water/meth injection.
We got an award for Best Engineered Racecar

Myself the Crew Chief

We had Game Crazy pitting with us promoting the new Forza 3

and our RC car modeled after the racecar and theme

We had a very stiff suspension set up and took the rear sway bar out 6 hours into the race and it handled much better

Last couple hours our turbo really started taking a crap and burning lots of oil, but with lots of oil on hand, we finished the race no problem.

This is what would happen every time letting off the throttle

Taking the Checkered flag

Race End, pulling into our pit with the final result of the car.

The team

The car is actually behind us, thats how small a Dodge colt is...lol

The only issues we had were a bad fuel pump that we replaced with a spare and a leaking BOV under boost that we just eliminated.

We completed 495 laps or 952 miles to take a solid 18th place finish, Our best lap time was 1:44.

It was so much fun with great people and one of them being a chef to make us great food. We had the best pit set up, for sure, with lots of ez-ups, couch's, heaters, lots of lights, a couple motorhomes, food, video games, and more to have a great time and be comfortable.

I have a ton more pics and of every car almost if interested.

Oh and this was our electric chair for getting around paddock, complete with cooler, stereo, cup holder, headlights and a CO2 powered nerf football launcher attachment thats not pictured. The seats are out of our racecar.

^ its awesome, but see our handicap wheel chair next to it, it can also be seen in my sixth picture that i posted. It is total sleeper after some tweeking. Take note it has a wheelie bar.

And it very much needs that wheelie bar. It doesnt do 50 mph.

But does right about 46 mph and can pull 100ft wheelies. Having a small very powerful electric motor hooked to 48volts, the torque is insane.

Yeah, it doesn't take much to make those things rediculously fast. My buddy's dad was a partial quadrapalegic. He bought a new chair and had to have the thing reworked. From the factory it was impossible not to spin the tires, and it did mid 30 mph. Made it very difficult to maneuver around the house

Wow--$100 for a Colt Turbo? I'm always searching Craigslist for one of those! Very cool. I knew it was a Colt, but I didn't know it was Turbo. Was it a twinstick trans?

Aw man, an '84 even?! That's awesome. I love those things.

My mom had one... I still miss it even though I was only about six when she sold it.

Yep it is a twin stick 8 speed trans.

We actually found it sitting in front of a house in some neighbor hood on flat tires. Went up to the door, asked if they wanted to sell it, $100 later we had it back at the shop airing up tires and got it fired up for a test drive. Got back and started tearin it down to a bare shell.

That is officially awesome. I wish I'd run across a $100 Turbo Colt (or Turbo Sprint, Swift GT, etc.)

I had an 80 Plymouth Champ (same car) I loved that car. It got killed by a woman in a 4x4 Toyota.

The twin stick was fantastic... my buddy Jerry and I could make that thing move out when shifting in unison.

We surprised a few cars.

Those guys are awesome! We spent 4-5 hours on the dyno helping get the car dialed.

The shop is beautiful, and very cool dyno room. Great setup they have. We will be working with them in the future for sure.
