The NASCAR haters posting in a thread about NASCAR, make you think they are really fans and just don't want to admit it.

Yeah the car looks ugly for a Mustang, but to fit the specs it has to look like that.

That's another huge problem not to gripe about it, I love the sport and its great to see in person if you get the chance but it needs "Diversity" rather than "Unity" which is annoying. That's what makes racing, to see if you can build the meanest engine to out run your opponents, have an aerodynamics package that blows the rest away, to have a cool looking car that catches your fans eyes. Its no longer about that, its just basically see if you can meddle with the suspension to try and out turn your opponent for the win.

i think i read in an issue of racecar engineering that this nationwide car is setup to be a better handling car than the cup car but with less power.

I think NASCAR's answer would be that, "It's about the Best Driver, with the Best Performing Team on That Weekend."
Sort of a "Spec Series Team Sport" with Engines and Wheels.

That's certainly no different than what they currently have... I'm just wondering how the move to a splitter up front will affect that.
How much is "Aero grip" and How much is "Mechanical grip" VS what they are currently using?
When the Cup guys went to a splitter-equipped nose, the Racing SUFFERED.
Qualifying laps are Fine, but in a pack, when one guy gets up behind another, he loses the nose because the splitter sees almost no air. On the older car, they messed with the fenders/hoodline more.
The Nationwide Series has been using bodies Similar to the previous Cup cars... I wonder how badly they'll Suffer, or if these "MFR-Unique" Noses will help compensate?

Meaning its all reigns down to who can talk the most southern, and the fastest pit-stop.

i dunno, i used to be into nascar somewhat a few years ago but now it just seems the racing is weak! I cant get into watching cars go around a track that were designed without the idea of going faster than the old car. make these cars handle better and it would be much more fun to watch!

I think they need to let teams tweek their cars more. Lets get back to the roots of racing. I understand them keeping the safety features mandatory(not that I think any team would remove any of it), but come on it RACING. And racing is all about tweeking this and that to be faster then him and her. I've been gettin gmore into Nascar lately and I am going to the Truck race on the 13th. I also don't think the Mustang looks THAT bad. I kinda like the change.

You're smoking What?
If you want the "Racing to be Better", you make the cars Handle WORSE so that it separates the "Drivers" from the "Guys who can point a car and do commercials".
I'm not sure when the "racing got weak".
Every race is unique, but the Absolute Best race I ever saw was in the Fall of '08 as the top 3 Roush guys went fender-to-fender for countless laps approaching the Finish in a GREAT Battle which ended in a Clean 1-2-3 despite all of the fender-touching and bumper-rubbing.
It was as good as any of the Best "physical" Sports Car racing that I've ever seen, and I've seen some GREAT moments, from Pro's to Pro/Am, to Amateur.
"Rough But Clean".
I'm not sure what you're looking at, but taking into account the Race-to-Race variables, and the ebb and flow of drivers' "Hot Streaks", nothing has really changed for a handful of years now other than which names are in the Top 15, and obviously #1 has been unchanged for 4 years now (grumble...). Sort of like Sebastian Loeb in WRC or Michael Schumacher's streak in F1....

I'm not sure WTF "reigns down to" means, but have you noticed that the Champion for the last 4 years (including this year which he has all but locked up) is a Californian who sounds awkward if he even TRIES to "Speak Southern"?

YA, the #48 is THE MAN! He's gonna make the history books this year, and probably next year too. He's untouchable.

Yeah, but you know deep down he's weeping, scared, alone, and wishing he sounded like everyone else.

I actually don't much care for watching nascar in extended races, but I do love them on the road courses. And about the only thing that's good about the ridiculous amount of time Speed spends on Nascar coverage is that sometimes technical bits get thrown in the mix. I do enjoy watching coverage regarding their aero packages, tech specs, etc.

I'd contend that Chad Knaus is the "Man".
Jimmie is Good, don't get me wrong, but IMO, he's only a "Top 15" Driver, who is consistently in "Top 5" Equipment, and he knows no such thing as Bad Luck. I think he sold his soul for his good fortune where "Luck" plays a part in Racing.

This is why I still contend that the best pure driver in NASCAR is Tony Stewart. You put that guy in anything with 4 wheels and a motor, and he just wins. Whether it's a Cup car, a Nationwide series car, dirt late model, winged sprint car, midget car, USAC Silver Crown car, anything. The guy just WINS. Oh yeah, he also did it in IndyCar before he came to NASCAR and won his 2 Cup titles.

I guess thats it. I am just bored with cup nascar tech. Not much to be inspired about, chassis-wise. But the new nationwide car sounds cool.

Here is the article is read.
http://www.racecar-engineering.com/a...eries-cot.html

More to like about the new car here and hopefully it makes a positive impact on their race series.

Well, giving a 1” of travel more then a Cup car... plus no bumpstops and allow them to coil-bind will help then handling for sure.

It basically sounds like they have a NASCAR truck series type car.. The old suspension, but with a splitter.
