yes. yes I would. But I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment of this post. What's not important is how you roll. WHat is important is your devotion to your car, be it the performance, the aesthetics, the ICE, or just the vibe you want to create. All styles have their place in the car world. THere is no call for a drag guy hating on the euro look as 'rice' or for the roadracers to badmouth an airbag system. No doubt the guy who's slammed his focus to the weeds is fully aware that he hasn't created a rally replica. Comments are fine; I'd say that even negative comments are fine, so long as they make sense IN THE CONTEXT OF THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS BUILT. Like no one should say "Hey chromie, you realize those heavy ass rims actually hurt performance?" or "Gary, your car is useless because you don't have a good soundsystem." |

Isn't a car show the same thing? Both places you are going to oggle something for personal enjoyment.Quote:
![]() It would be nice if everyone could calmy express why they don't like something but it seems the more extreme the post the more extreme the response will probably be and that can go for positive and negative posts. |

I agree this place here is all about opinions, the old age saying say nothing if you have nothing nice to say is so old and dumb.Like common what would the world be like without some constructive and some critiscism, were allowed to speak our minds here arn't we?? Like if you want feedback on your car expect some negative stuff like those taillights are ugly or not my style.Everyone has a difference of opinion and if people get pissed who cares, it's your car not thier's,your choice thier opinion shouldn't matter but they should be allowed to express it.Like if pople get so pissed that someone said they ddn't like thier car, boo hoo.Grow up and stop crying, you wouldn't see me here crying that someone hated ny car, thier aloowed thier opinion and it's a country where freedom of speech is allowed and thier is no rule against negative opinions is there?? it seems like some people her belong in kindergarten.I agree with not attacking the person but they shouldn't be forced to keep it to themselves, what [censored] convo's everyone would have if nobody gave a different opinion and everyone agreed. |

I should clarify my point I guess. I don't mean that you can't express the opinion that you don't like something. I don't expect everyone here to love every one elses tastes. There is a right way and a wrong way to make those comments though. Many people have a problem finding the right way to express their opinion, and in those instances I believe the comments would be best left unsaid. It's possible to be nice when you state you don't like someone's choice of taillights. It's also possible to be a complete ass about it and that's what really needs to stop. The example that Ataru posted is not uncommon, but is entirely uncalled for in any situation. >8^) ER |

Erik - and I disagree with you. For me there are 2 sides to that... 1. Yes, I personally think, that if it is constructive critizism it is all fair game, even if something negative is being said about someone elses car. (at least for me it was important what people thought everytime I posted pix) 2. I agree with you if you get replies such as 'nice rice' or 'are you [censored] stupid to put this or that on your car'. Responses such as those are worthless and uncalled for. And I stand to my pov regarding constructive critizism...as long as it is in decent fashion, and even backing up their critizism with some valid points in their eyes (not that the owner of the car has to agree), I don't see a problem with it. I have always tried to be as politically correct as possible (at least I hope so) when I replied to someones car. But again this showed also by the replies I got when I still had the FoFo, since people replied the same way. At least it seemed like it. I'm just saying that if someone has a thread titled 'Here is my whip - what do u guys think' (or something along the lines) you betcha that I don't see anythign wrong with pointing out things that are not my taste (in a fair and mannered way). but to be honest...I always decided how much a response affected me...cuz afterall it is MY car...and in my eyes it is up to the owner themselves what they make out of the reponses...praise or critizism... Cheers Edit - Erik...sorry, just read your ealrier reply couple posts back where you clarified...but I leave my response up anyways... |

Opinions are fine, good or bad, when they are REQUESTED!!! I post pics to share, period. If I am after opinions I ask. Its that simple!!! I think this is the real key. If someone wants your opinion then rock and fire, if someone doesn't ask, then keep it to yourself!!!

once again...it is what you make out of the replies...even if you didn't ask for them...afterall this is a messgae board and I think no matter what...people will reply..if you ask for it or not...if you don't want replies...maybe have a subforum in team rigz which is kinda 'gallery style' without guest bood...Call it 'FJ Gallery' or whatever...this way you will be freed from replies...

Once again, just because you have the right to say what you want doesn't mean you should.... Respect for others will get you farther in life than taking a selfish attitude of "I'll say what I want when I want". Quote:
Perfectly fine. If someone requests some feedback, getting some constructive criticism is good. But constructive criticism is different than the example I posted above. Trying to tell a forum full of members to use constructive criticism instead of flaming is like telling a room full of toddlers that they can have a "few" cookies. Each one is going to have their own idea of fow far they can go before they went to far. It is much easier to use specific terms instead of general ideas. "You can have ONE cookie" or "If you don't like it, keep your opinion to yourself" are much easier concepts to convey to a large crowd that can have many different interpretations to a vague idea. Quote:
No one is forcing members to keep their opinions to themselves. It is just being suggested that members use self control and respect when approaching other members, that is all. AND this is being suggested by me as an individual, not as a moderator. |

Read and agree on
Just a note: Keep in mind that the FJ members span a diverse age group anywhere from say 16 on up to over 50 years old so their responses typically will reflect their ages and maturity level.Granted for example you can have mature 16 year old posts/comments and immature older member posts, just respect others feelings when making responses. ![]() Anyway, when I respond to threads that asks, for example:"What do you think?" I will say either "I would..." or "In my opinion..." or even "Looks great..." |

i agree, when people mod their cars it is all about self- expression if it looks good to you why should it matter what anybody else says, we are all part of the big FJ family and we are here to share our cars with other jetters not to criticize each other ![]() why can't we all just get along?? |
