from what i've read, it's a common problem to lose compression due to a blown head gasket, with no other symptoms. so i'm going to order the competition head gasket, ARP head studs (ouch $$), cam belt and tensioner, etc, etc. gonna take a look at the cylinder walls / pistons when the head is off and go from there. |

Okay, gonna call BAT in a bit and order some parts.
Now, when i pull some parts off i'm going to wire brush them (mmm air tools) to get a nice polished finish on the aluminum... what can i do to keep it nice looking? Also, when i pull the valve cover, i want to make it at least somewhat nice looking... what can i do there? wrinkle paint? send it to get powder coated (more $, but the place is 5 min away), and finally, what color. |

I don't know if you've seen any of the valve covers on e-bay from madadder5.0.
This is an example of some of his work but occasionally he puts up an SVO valve cover that has been powder coated black with the raised portions just clear coated and the ford emblem pwder coated blue that are just awesome in my opinion. Pretty suttle while being very clean. Of course the example above is not very suttle but it was just used because it was a decent example of his powwder coating. They seem to be a pretty decent deal for how the parts turn out. Cool project by the way. I can't wait to get my SVO up and running again. |

That should be fun to build. I built one a couple of years ago and it was fun to drive. I just got tired of fixing things all the time.

The Felpro 1035 Head gasket is the best to get until you o-ring the head and block.

I totally love these cars! There are a couple of them running around Vancouver BC. On guy has one totally done up, it's black with bronze wheels and black and grey sparcos. It's got some type of wide body kit on it as well? Kinda looks like a Cossie kit.

Do these things share the same engine as the SVO Mustang? If so here's a picture of one that was kickin' some V8 arse at the Gateway Intl Fun Ford Weekend back in June.

Ray, I saw a red one driving past my girlfriends house today. I jumped in excitement off her front steps where we were sitting, chased it half way down the street to the stop sign, leaned over into the window, and said.... "nice car... my friend has a white one" gave them a thumbs up and walked away.
I did it mostly for the "wtf" face of the driver afterwards. ![]() |

got the head off.
bad news. exhaust valve on #4 has a nice little chunk missing. which means it probably went into the turbo which means i need to send both the head out for a vavle job (euro ford fan, you know where i can get valves?) and probably have to send the turbo out. this project just got a lot more expensive. on a good note, the pistons look fine, the cylinder walls look fine, the oil and coolant were not mixed at all, etc. so, we'll see. |
