When they first came out, I thought they were ugly as hell. A good friend of mine loved them.

Then as I got older and perspectives changed, I discovered that the XR4 was not exactly a pretty car, but still appealing in it own way.

Bitchin work Ray.

Id still like to see what it looks like squatting a bit lower, but I know that stance works best. (For now)

I LOVE XR's, to me they are the euro version of the Fox Body Mustang. So many ways to modify, not exactly pretty, but a pretty damn good hammer!

I always liked XR4Ti's when I was a teenager. So much so I convinced my dad to buy a Scorpio. I used to drive that thing like a bat outta hell when he wasn't around and that thing could handle too. Scorpios were pretty nice inside. The had great seats with air pump bladders, good stereos, and the back seat had electric recliners. Scorpios were way uglier though. Anyhow nice job.

Nice work, neat cars the Sierra's, and of course the Merkurs. Cossies were running around English roads in Moonstone blue when I still lived there.

So were prototype Jaguar XJ220's........that was an awesome sight from the seat of a '66 Land Rover LWB......Jag coming up behind you at some thing like a 70-100 mph closing speed and I squeeze over to give him an easy pass, he blazes by.....it's wicked looking, esp from behind at those diffuser tunnels!

Luck with the Merkur! Glad you got the double wing version as well, the single spoiler one has a bit less personality.....

Lorin, i had some slight rubbage on the front left, which i fixed by raising that corner up 3/8". I need to remove / modify / cut / etc some more of the bracket that holds the marker lamp in.

For the rear i'm considering changing the springs to ones that are 0.75" lower (since the springs are mounted inboard, like the focus, effective lowering would be closer to 1.3" or so). I still need to corner balance the car, it would also be nice to get a total weight. I really like the raked look, but we'll see. Then again the springs are about the cost of a week and a half of daycare, and that comes first.

Jim, yeah those are pony wheels.

thing about circuit boards are... they're just circuits. fixing cold solders and some broken leads is easy. testing caps and transistors and replacing them sucks.

Couple updates (no pics, nothing exciting). Noticed i was getting piss poor fuel efficiency and my boost wasn't being consistant. Had it set fairly low (15psi or so) and recently it's been making 21 or so psi. something wasn't right. Went over the vacuum lines and found two split caps (they were replaced ... oh, maybe last fall? wtf why did they fail?). Anyway, fixed that, pulled the IC to TB charge pipe, wire brushed it, precleaned it and repainted that. Then i pulled the front grill and buffed the headlights clear (clearer than they were. look pretty good). Then i decided to maybe try and fix the windshield leak and pulled the rubber off then resiliconed it. Not happy with how it came out, will ahve to redo it. Of course, if it works i'll just maybe ignore the two spots the rubber no longer seats properly. heh.

oem pressure is 14-15psi. car last i checked (last fall, before some more upgrades) was 203whp / 276wtq. that was on 17-18psi.

i think stock you're normally around 140whp / 175wtq

Okay scratch that, just got back from the rollers. new ECM, big VAM netted me a few. made 216whp and 294 or something torque.

fun fun fun.

15psi (oem boost) was 198whp and 274wtq, upped it to 17-18psi and made the other numbers.

Up the boost to 20 and see what happens. Add alky or blue bug juice injection and you'll make much better numbers. My numbers were 273rwhp and 320lb-ft from my old SVO. Not bad numbers for a Pinto motor with stock like parts.
