I *think* this is the first time I'm posting here... but I've been following this thread for atleast 4 years... gotta love it
![]() anyhow, if I had a garage (and if it hasn't been sold yet), I'd be all over this: http://hartford.craigslist.org/car/660851503.html (I'm still keeping secret the escort EXP parked in the weeds near my in-laws!) |

In the XR it's not bad. You have to move a few pins around on the wire harness and put in the ACT sensor. The actual sensor can be left in the glovebox. It only pulls timing, never adds it for cooler temps. There is a guy on MerkurSport that internally re-pins these (xr4man) which makes them plug-and-play minus adding the ACT sensor. You also need a big VAM and intercooler to run the ECU.

hey keo, you come to the autocrosses at all?
bix - no it's not that hard. act sensor from a mushtang, installed in the intake mani, run a couple wires to that from the harness. biggest pain is pinning, but if you've done it before it isn't a big deal. you also need to ground the premium fuel wire and a few other things.

Ray, thanks! Heat, The SVO already comes with a big VAM as well as an intercooler. I want to add a front mount, but we'll see, it will probably be a litte more than I want to pay for though. -bix

Nah, not yet... if I did I would be tempted to participate and right now my '05 zx3 needs to remain the reliable commuter. Hopefully I'll be able to pay it off soon and can then justify some upgraditis. ![]() |

Anyway, summary of the event:
Hot. You guys in Carlisle know. 97 or so and humid. When i got done with a run, and took my helmet off, the car felt cool. then when i got out of the car, it felt cool, so in car temps were easily over 105 or so. The drive home was also very warm. As for "new mods" we have the following: -removed the fog lights. -niteshaded the corner markers -replaced the destroyed damper with a borrowed shock from smoke3006 until the new ones come in. As for the heat: the car actually performed pretty well. Again we were bumped into XP, and again, i was the only one in my class on street tires. The other guys there keep asking why i dont bring the slicks, as i have a couple sets. Well, my co-driver, while being very good, is still new, and we decided to learn on streets. He's getting very good tho. Maybe too good. Anyway, some pics. Pictures are courtesy of Ashley from NETC. I'm 141. Schultz (my codriver) is 506. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I was the only one in CP that day (well, two drivers, one car), so you need three for a class... and the next highest class with 3 people was... XP. which is an FTD class in my area.
Had a nice compliment tho, a guy that's been running with us for... a long time said once we get the slicks on my car might be THE car to beat ![]() Overall very fun car to autoX. The drive there and back, not so much. had a bunch of compliments on how the open sidepipe sounded, as well.

Ray, your co-driver is beating you in your own car.
![]() It's time to bust out the slicks. You can handle them, he can handle them, the car can handle them........

Actually, i had him by over 0.5 seconds last event, when he beat me by 0.012 seconds, i was having a REALLY bad day. I'm not saying he's not good - he is. Really good. I told him he's ready, he just doesnt' think he is. We're (me) bringing them to the next event, and ... to get a good description of a good street tire (RT615) versus a slick (kumho v710) we're going to swap tires after 2 heats.
provided the weather is good (no rain) be fun to see how much time the slick shoes are worth, eh? one of the reasons he doesn't want to run slicks yet is that his steering inputs are still about 2x my steering inputs - he wants to get smoother. we forgot the video cameras this event but if his rate of progression is anything like the last couple autox's he went to, he'll be there by the end of july. fun car to learn on tho. you mess up, you go around. you mess up, you lock up. etc. no driver aids whatsoever in a very torquey car that favors oversteer versus understeer.

I would say polish the lights up on the car, and call her done.

![]() Yep my wimpy 7.5 LIVE axel is no match for your indy rear. I finally got the car running decent though. The next step would be to upgrade the MAF and then tune with a tweecer. -bix
