Dont have any pics of the steering rack or wheel, but i'll try to remember to take a couple.

Anyway, first event with a non rudder rack and non floppy wheel proved that i made the right decision. Had a blast, and learned that 710's dont like as much camber as i'm running so i'm going to dial some out next time.

anyway, pics.

can really see how much camber i run in this pic - gonna pull about 2 degrees out next time.

started almost lifting inner rear again - need to fix this as ... well RWD + lifting inner rear has some serious accel problems.

and here is my friend Liam's car - helped get this fixed a few weeks back so he owed me a couple fun runs, unfortunately, the fan clips broke and the car started to get too hot so instead of driving it i got to help fix it. Next time, Liam. He consistantly is very close to FTD, pretty much no matter what car he's in. Pic is too big to embed, but check it out

Still forget to get pics of the steering rack and wheel and all that, but it's really not that exciting (makes for a super fun autox car tho)

Anyway, more pics to follow as smoke3006 took a bunch - but i think we had the most XR4Ti's in a single autocross than any other region in the past couple years yesterday...

that's right - 3.

Couple pics

smoke3006 has the red merkur, that's me giving the thumbs up, and hEaT is standing by his nimbus grey merkur.

And the other XR's!

smoke3006:

hEaT:

lockin' those brakes!

starting to lift inner front

merkur:focus ratio 3:1
HTPerformance!

Looking ahead: (great job btw jason)

Btw - their new brake kit looked to perform amazingly well. Jason already is brewing new ideas for MORE focus performance!

Hope you enjoyed the pics as much as we enjoyed starring in them

speaking of towing dollies... had to get trailered home by a friend today.

broke something in the rear end. hoping for halfshafts, worried it is my diff. co-driver's last run, launch, spin (wet), click second, spin (wet), then this pop, and he slowed way down. car makes a popping when changing direction (forward to reverse) or turning. hoping for halfshafts.

anyway, synopsis - my car is evil in the wet. absolutely horribly omfg evil. i spun twice on one run, drifted the others, hit more cones today than the rest of the season combined, spent more time sideways than straight. fun as HELL. slow. but fun. car still managed a first place win (my co-driver beat me again).

i even had people coming up to me saying "how are you even driving? that car looks impossible!" to which i replied "hey, at least i'm having a lot of fun!"

it felt like ice. it was super slick. my god, launch - spin down entire front straight, brake, no turn, finally start to turn, apply a little throttle = sideways, full counter lock take corner sideways, correct, brake, do it all over again. repeat.

holy crap it was loose out there.

my season might be over tearing rear end down this week. pray for halfshafts.

Sucks Ray. Let me know if you need a hand during the week (Thursday night I believe I'm free). Sounds like CV joints. Did you run slicks today??

i think i popped the diff. just got in from some trouble shooting. pass side rear will spin and have both spin (like it should) then make a clunk, then spin VERY freely with a light clunk, clunk, clunk as if a tooth or two, or three, is missing from the gear.

frick.

Should it work that way even with a viscous diff? I thought it needed some heat to work. You might luck out and it's just the ring gear.

yes, joe. even with a viscous it'll spin both wheels the same direction. open diff is opposite direction.

i am planning on putting together an Eaton LSD (GM unit omg) which is a clutch type and should be better, and not much more money.

I saw that. Not sure it's the right spline count (26) or the right unit.

worth taking a look at. what's your friend looking to get for the rear end?

I'm 99% sure it's a 26 spline. They were used up until 89. His rear was swapped in by the PO, but if it was from a 89 or earlier it's a 26. I think he'll be at the garage this weekend working on it so we can check.

He said $120 for it all (Brakes, Axles, Diff, etc). He's replacing the whole thing on his car. It's in Willington right now. Renwood actually so a 10min walk from Sam's place.

Same price, but if you wanted it all, it's yours. I don't think he'll pull the unit out for you, but you can have the whole thing and just trash the rest.
