MODEL: 2004 Ford SVT Focus with European Appearance Package 'Hermiones' #699, 1 of 128 OVERVIEW: Let's take a little walk back. The first car I ever test drove, before I even had my license, when I was just on my permit, was a 2002 CD Silver SVT Focus with a Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler. I really liked the sound of it, and at the time, that was the extent of my car liking. 'It sounds cool, it looks cool.' I was your typical 15 year-old rice boy. I noticed something else on the lot that day, a brand new Orange SVT Focus. But this one had sweet gunmetal wheels. And nice headlights. And Recaro seats! Man that was one sweet car I ended up driving well over 20 cars over the next two years, until I saw a little ad in the classifieds for an 04 SVT Focus EAP. Just like the Orange one I saw the day I test drove the 02, way back in 2002. Too many names jumped out at me to pass it up, and the pressure from my parents to pick a car meant my time before they made the choice for me was dwindling. 'SVT, Recaro, Ford Racing.' How could I pass this up? I went down to the Ford dealer and test drove the car with my Dad. Just as I remembered, balanced suspension, lack of torque, nice sound. The next day it was mine. For the first few months that I owned the car, I said it would remain stock, and for about 5 months I stuck to my word. Then the bug bit. It started with a short-throw shifter. Then I went to my first autocross, and next thing I knew I had an H&R Cup Kit, Tune, H&R Rear Sway Bar, and VF Tranny mount. That was in January of 2005. Since then I've changed the suspension to a very aggressive coilover set-up, gone through about every SVT bolt-on in the book, and successfully decimated my engine in an attempt at the impossible. People outside of the scene look and see all the money that goes into the car and think I am crazy. But I look at all of the great GREAT times I've had with the car, and more importantly, the AMAZING people I've met, and the money I've spent doesn't matter. The list of people that I've come to love from owning this car is far too long, and if I tried to list them all, I'd certainly fail to mention quite a few. My Norcal family is amazing, they have kept both me and the car on the road in the right direction. I can't thank them enough. Now that the car is back on the road, I intend to enjoy it as much as possible. The car performed amazingly well at a scorchingly hot track day only one week after her rebirth, and she will be out on track at Sears Point Infineon Raceway in a week and a half to prove herself again. Thanks to everyone that has gotten me this far. FJ is the w33test site on the net!
