Default My newly acquired Focus (56K Beware)

Acquired this in trade for some r/c stuff. A clodbuster with a custom chassis, a rs4 rally, and an original rc10t.

Doesn't look anywhere near this good anymore. It was originally red and was a Mcnew's edition focus from back in the day. I will post some pics of it's current state tomorrow.

And a video of it running.

Tranny was shifting a little hard and i was concerned there was water in it so i decided to drain it out and flush it and switch it to some fresh ford honey. Here's what came out.

Small hole in the passenger floor board that's gonna need fixed.

The drivers side rocker panel got a got sized dent in it also. But i have stock black side skirts that will cover that up.

Also a hammer mard on the passenger a pillar if you look close you can see it in this pic.

Installed my old headlights.

Made some more progress

Had to put a radio in it was going nuts without one. Got this from a junkyard for $40 dollars and bought the install kit to mount it. it's a jenson cd player nothing fancy.

This is my good freind Andy. He is the guy who fabbed up my turbo kit for me and is a very good fabricator and welder. He was helping me repair the damage from the roof scoop. had a bunch of screw holes and a huge die grinder cut that needed welded shut.

Got a Rousch midwing from Karl at Massive

Ground down the welds and slapped some flat black on it to protect it until it gets painted in january.

This is the damage that was done were the ww mid wing was ripped off. They must have used a large screwdriver or prybar. i ordered a new mid wing to go over the area and hide most of the damage. Also pictured is the green gas door that i got from a slavage yard to replace the broken one.

This is the hammer dent on the passenger a pillar.

It's six different colors(red, baby blue, yellow, primer, flat black, and green) right now and i may add a sen=venth color if i can find a good oem rear bumper to replace this damaged one. But it has run great so far and this is how it looks going down the road. I get lots of looks in both of my Foci.

Got a Rousch midwing from Karl at Massive for a great price. It's alot bigger than the WW one that is on my other focus, which is ok cause it covers up the damage alot better but if it wasn't for that i would not recommend this wing. I think i may add a rs or svt wing to offset it a little more.

My replacemant green gas door

Don't mess with the ZX3-RR

Newest modification is a used OBX exhaust system.

Inspiried by the $50 paint thread.

Added a used OBX header.

Had the hole in the floor repaired

My super dooper intake

Stipped down getting ready for paint!

Spent all day prepping and taping up the rat getting it ready for the paint booth.

Damage to the roof all fixed up.

Here's the paint Valspar tractor paint in Flat Black.

The brew all mixed and ready to spray.

Samples of the paint on a street rod project the he just finished.

Painting the jams.

First coat going on. Bye Bye blue hello happiness.

This may be it for updates in this post as i have the car pretty much were i want it so from now on it will be updated in Rigz with new posts. Thanks for all of the help to those who contributed to the project. Stay tuned for it's debut.

Corey that's awesome, what sort of r/c stuff wields a trade like that?

Any go-fast mods to her? And maybe it's just the angles, but that roof scoop almost looks functional

What the hell? I have acouple old RC10s here along with some beatiful original Losi JRX and JRX-T. I'd love to trade them off for a Focus like that(maybe not that color...heh).

But I'm guessing it no longer looks like that tho?

i edited my original post with the items traded. It doesn't have the wheels , roof scoop, ground effects, hatch glass, end caps to the mid-wing, about half of that ugly ass baby blue paint, and much more. It's been sitting in the woods for the last couple of years and i'm not even sure it runs yet?

Still a sweet deal Corey, though I'm clueless about what your clarification on the r/c items traded are so they could be worth a fortune

The Focus could actually lend itself to a decent Gulf model I think, with the bodylines and whatnot

If you ask me, the focus is already a classic. It's like the 57 Chevy, it's styling is timeless.

Some of his R/C goodies are classic, some are worth some money. Overall I'd say maybe $2-3K worth (although depending on the condition and how custom could beef that up or down).

+2

I will own at least one more focus some day. It will be my little hot rod pet project/midlife crisis distraction. I love everything about them.

Hey, how 'bout an Alitalia paint scheme? Circa 1976 Lancia Stratos :-)
