ehh I might have 300 dollars into the truck with purchase so far. Dollar store sandpaper FTW! I mean really, i'm going to go through alot of it why ruin expensive **** with bondo dust?

-The paint is going to be done at the same time as my mustang is going in to have some work done on it.
-the body shop that does it I have a partial sponsorship from
-The work is being done with tax return money

so it's on a budget.

did you just slap bondo in the body lines??

one small flex and that fille ris gonna pop out!
Shouldnt have have assed that.. welding would have been the only real soulution. with filler to smooth it out.

How'd yo ufix those massive holes in the bed? Bondo?

sicko's rendering looks good!

Why did you shave the body lines? You should have at least used something beefier like Kitty Hair or something. Or metal like Chromie said.

uhh i've never seen body filler just fall out, especially if the surface was prepped right as I did. Maybe if someone ran into the side of me I could see it happening but then really i'll have more problems then that. Maybe if it wasn't mixed right or wasn't given proper set up time or something. I mean I guess it could happen but from what i've tested it seems pretty stable, there woul have to be some serious flexing there. I've seen it work for alot of people and it's still holding up well.

The bed was glassed and then smoothed out with bondo. Yea we coulda welded in the lines, and cut out the rust and welded in new peices but really it's a truck I pulled from a parts yard for 200 dollars and i'm gonna drive every day.

The body line was f'd up so it was ground down and I just said the hell with it and did that. I also have to mention that i'm getting better gas mileage in this thing with a 4.3 v6 then I did in my focus. I've run around all week back and forth to work and burnt 1/4 tank, and the tanks not all that big. It cost me the same amount as it does to fill up the foci.

Ok another update today. Last smoothed out coat goes on to finish the body line shave. Drop springs and blocks should be ordered at the end of this month or early next month. I'm only going with a 3/3 drop right now which will be more then enough as my front end should sit around 7 inches off the ground.

^^Your focus had a ****ty tune, thats why it got mediocre mileage. On average most of us get 28-30, and there's no way a 4.3 could touch that unless the car weighed about 500 lbs. I've got more than a handful of friends with those and they get about 18-20mpg on average. The bondo will eventually crack and fall off if it's used for anything more than 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Fibre strand is good but I used that to fill in the tailgate hole in my truck (with proper prepping) and it cracked and fell off. Granted it took almost 2 years to do so, but it still happened. Good luck, I'd like to see more pics as this progresses, but if it's going to be a daily driver do it right.

Yea I think the line I filled was about 1/8th inch maybe... Yea i'm gonna put the truck in a primer for that reason. I decided on going black and silver with a tribal pattern to break up the 2 tone. Mcnews tuned the focus so I dont know if it's that bad of a tune, however it's when they were just beginning to learn how to tune the JFA8 ECU's

Yep i'm gonna keep updating.

Updated again for shaving complete. I'm beat as **** and barely had the energy to finish the last little section I had to do. I guess it will be worth it in the end. I think i'm gonna feel pretty proud knowing how much work it took to get the truck to look good.

Absolutely, it's project mini truck on a budget. Thats not my g/f though Just a friends G/F.

I think im going to run to lowes though, I think i've decided a different color for the top. It's going to be a bit of an eye catcher if I can find what I want. The black and aluminum is to subtle for my tastes I think.
